Default Dynamic MoPics - Click to Enlarge Image - Not working in IE7, but does in Firefox and Chrome.

Hello...I have tried two laptops and a desktop running IE7 and when I click on the (click to enlarge image) link...it does not appear to be a link at all. This works fine in Firefox and Google Chrome. I am ..as we speak downloading Windows Updates and am going to install IE8 to see if that helps.

    Ideas?

    Turn on template switching, then:

Does it do the same? [Hoping that you haven't been messing with fallback]

Oops....I posted the below to soon I think. It was working after I switched it. Now it does not. ?????

That was it. I turned ON template switching and the problem went away. I have not been messing with fallback ...other than that I copied the fallback folder and made a new template folder from that. The original fallback folder is intact. Did I do that right? I had read somewhere on the forum regarding another issue about "errors on page" and it had suggested turning template switching OFF. Go figure. I thought perhaps the errors on my page had something to do with it...but I guess the template switching setting was causing both issues. Anything else you can contribute as far as do's and do nots?

Thank you SO much for helping me on that!

In terms of the actual issue, template switching has no bearing - it's a methodology for debugging and/or maximising the use of templates.
It is more likely a content issue in your own template - a missing section of code for Slimbox (the popup feature).
Check mainpage.tpl.php against the fallback one.
Only include files in 'content', where they differ from fallback (try renaming some to see if a difference is seen eg. product_info.tpl.php).
Stay clear of double quotes in the title of the product, if at all possible. Use ` instead.
"Click to Enlarge" not working for just one product

Thank you! Ok...problem solved. Here we go... I actually had two unrelated issues going on. I will discuss the first one as it is the reason I posted.

I could not get the "click to enlarge" image link to work in IE7. It would work in other browsers. The problem was...when I was adding products with the ckeditor..I was copying and pasting text in from a webpage. This (text) was in a <table>. This <table> code was transferred into the ckeditor. To solve the problem I was having in IE7...I just chose the table properties and aligned the table to the left. Problem solved. I guess in IE....the table must have been overlapping the "click to enlarge" link somehow. Go figure. I hate browser wars when it comes to coding.

My second issue (unrelated to the above) was that I was getting that error on the bottom left of the page that said "Done..but with page errors". That problem was just some junk code that I had been working on and forgot to take out.

Thank you for your help and this is a great community.

    Hint when working with templates.

    1) leave whatever can live in fallback alone (never edit fallback).
    2) only move/add to the new template directory those files that you have actually made changes to

    why?

Debugging. To see if YOU have made mods that have broken the store you can rename the files in your template area and it will automagically get the ones that you know work from the fallback.
    so endith the lesson

Question.... If you need to make changes to files that are outside of the template folder...should you MOVE those files to the template folder...no matter where they WERE....keeping of course the same directory structure?

No you can't do that. Could you give an example of what you are talking about doing and why?

Well..just for example there is a contribution that allows you to have a scrolling best sellers box. That is not in the templates folder. What if later on I want to upgrade the core files? Will that best sellers php file that I modified be over written? What should I do in the present to prevent things like that from happening?

If you add custom files or code changes to the core files other than your custom template directory, you will have to keep track of your changes so that you don't kill your mods when you upgrade. Keeping good change notes or keeping your source under svn revision control are the best ways to track your changes and avoid problems.
