    Default Wrong versions on server?

I have had v2.5 beta running on a USB drive with XAMPP since it was released with no issues, seems to run great.

GREAT job guy's, and thanks for the hard work!

This weekend, I decided to upload it to a test directory on my web server to make sure everything ran OK there, preparing for the final release and upgrade of my website.

Install seems to go OK, but I get nothing but blank white screens for both the website and the admin site. I have removed and re-uploaded about 10 times, as I have read that bad transfers are the number 1 cause of this, install goes good, but I still just get white screens.

As I was investigating, I found these requirements on the download page:

It requires a web server, PHP 5.x, Mysql 4.1x and up , Apache 1.3 xor 2.x.

My server information on my current OsCommerce page has this information:

    Server Information
    Server Host:safe.secure2-hosting.net (209.239.37.57) Database Host:Mearicle Solution (208.56.16.169)Server OS:Linux 2.4.33.2 Database:MySQL 4.0.26Server Date:20/12/2010 11:56:43 Datebase Date:20/12/2010 11:56:43Server Up Time:11:56am up 4 days, 22:47, 0 users, load average: 0.97, 0.93, 1.00HTTP Server:Apache/1.3.35 (Unix) ApacheJServ/1.1.2 PHP/4.4.4 FrontPage/5.0.2.2635 Rewrit/1.1aPHP Version:4.4.4 (Zend: 1.3.0)

First thing I noticed is that the PHP and MySQL versions are not as high on my server and was wondering if this is my problem with blank pages, or should I continue to look elsewhere.

    Thanks for any help/ideas.

See the wiki for installation instructions and .htaccess (I suspect this).

More than likely this is a configure.php issue - have you edited these file to reflect your new server environment? Not sure what they are then do a fresh install on the web server and then simply copy the files from your USB drive over the top excluding the 2 configure.php files. (assuming you have edited some of them).

Backup your dbase from the USB - copy across to the webserver and restore.

    Should work fine.

    Regards,
    pgmarshall

    Thanks for the quick replies.

I should have been more specific.....

ridexbuilder: I did change the name of the .htaccess.new file to .htaccess as per the instructions on each install, does something else need to be done?

pgmarshall: These were fresh uploads and installs, I was not copying the files from my USB drive. configure.php.new filenames were changed to configure.php along with the permissions.

PHP 4, though not recommended (at all) might be able to run 2.0.25 but 2.5? Nah, just upgrade from the obsolete PHP 4. Good idea to do mySQL while you're at it.

I figured that was the problem. I'll contact my hosing company and ask (tell) them to upgrade.

also, yes, you should contact your host and find out when they will be upgrading the server, or have them relocate your domain to a server that has been upgraded.

    PHP 5.3.4 Released on 12/10
    mySQL is on 5.5
Linux Kernal is 2.4.37 or 2.6.36
    so endith the lesson
