when installing osCMAX, there are some problems..

There are some questions when I was following the steps in wiki, there are some problems:
1.
"Install the additional software
Download WAMP Server 2
Install this on your PC
Goto your Start button and run WAMP Server 2
You should see in the tray on the bottom right hand corner of your screen these icons one after the other.server status1.jpg
and this one"server status2.jpg
In fact, when I follow this step, the icon changes from server status1.jpg to server status3.jpg.
Is this still success?

2.
"Create a database in WAMP Server
Left Click on the WAMP icon in the system tray in the bottom right hand corner of your screen
Click on myPhpAdmin
A new browser window will open
Under the heading MySQL localhost enter a name for your database
Click Create"
After I follow this, I cannot find the screen shown at wiki, a screen shown is error message1.jpg
#1045 - Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: NO)
How can I solve this problem?

When I follow the instructions in osCMAX user manual install step 5. use the install wizard, the problem 404 not found error.
I use firefox and type "http://www.mysite.com/install" or "http://www.mysite.com/catalog/install/index.php" or "http://mysite.com/catalog/install/" or "http://www.mysite.com/catalog/install/", the same "404 not found" was found.
I can access to mysite.com/cpanel, but I cannot access to mysite.com/catalog/install/. I don't know why. Please help me！~~~

This is the primary reason that I do not encourage local installs!
Seasoned IT professionals can readily correctly set up local servers, as opposed to "Joe Punter". We shouldn't be here as providers of PC/Mac support, IMO. In this respect, the wiki should only be a guideline, not a step-by-step handholding of software installation/configuration, that is likely to change.

Now that you have a hosting provider, why not create a sub-domain called 'dev' or 'development'? Install your testing site to dev.mydomain.com - much easier and will reflect far more closely, your live site.

ridexbuilder, as you know, there are wiki and osCMAX user manual.exe that can be followed. It is a bit confuse since there are two different sets. Also, I met the problem when I follow osCMAX user manual.exe to install. So...help me!~

Another question, when I'm setting security and installing check permission, I don't know what's step 7 mean.
"7. You now need to set the file permissions for osCmax ... - [edit pgm]

a) Go to admin --> Administrator --> File Access --> Select Tools row --> Click Store Files

b) Select 'check_permissions.php' from drop down --> Click Save

c) Don't forget to go into Member Groups to set the permissions up for your users."

Where is the "admin", is this at mysite.com/catalog/admin? or in other place?

Yep - that is it. The words separated by the --> are the menu headers to get to the right place.

However, you will only need to "Store Files" if you install new admin modules (which I suspect you have not done yet ...)
