Hi everyone,

I'm having the problems of a newbie installing
oscmax 2.0.25. Blank page was solved.

now it's the mail problem
The install is a test server. no domain name.
linux server. NO, I don't know a thing about exim, sendmail
or smtp mail !

The seller don't receive any email (localhost)
The customer don't receive any email.

Why ?

Setting up a full blown LAMP webserver is really out-of-scope for the forum. There are just so many ways of doing things. Google should be your friend in this. eg. LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP) HOWTO: Installing MySQL and Apache with PHP support on Linux [Unless some kind soul with time on their hands wants to write something up in the Off-Topic section]

Why not start a test site off on a freebie hosting service, or even a low cost one? Just don't expect great service/security from the providers, where free/low cost is concerned. Then when ready to go live with a shop, keep the freebie/low cost one for development/testing and get a decent hosting provider.

I think your opening post provides the answer to that question, in addition to the advantages of your server being sited in a NOC. etc. Though a trained and time-served System V Administrator (amongst numerous other *nix flavours), with 10+years with Linux, plus a hosting provider, I still leave the electricity bills and physical security of running a server to a provider.

You could use a temporary domain name to start (often available with plans).

for 153$ I have my domaine name + webspace + ecommerce
for 1 year ... I'm thinking of starting my business on the web.

Will finish my contract with my client (ecommerce/oscmax Quebec,canada)
than I will start my own ecom

Need to setup canadian taxes and shipping ... lot of reading
