Default Define Mainpage & Logo Problems

    Hi,
I have version v2.0.25. Went to define mainpage and changed wording but instead of this appearing on what I would call my mainpage (Top) it has appeared on Catalog page and Top is as it originally was complete with instructions to goto define mainpage to amend it. Surely thats not right, is it?

2nd, Ive uploaded my logo as OSCMAX_top.jpg, overwriteing the original file, but the original is still appearing online. Ive looked at my saved file to double-check it uploaded and it has. Any idea's?

Thanks, Ive been going thru wiki for the last day or so but still cant understand why 'Top' page stays unchanged after Ive gone to Define Mainpage. Only the Catalog page changes, and I wouldnt have thought that was my mainpage.
    Puzzled?

    Do you have a URL?
If taken the default installation route of installing into the recommended catalog, 'Top' (euch! 'Home', if you like) is the level above the osCmax installation. This allows scope for your website to not only display a shop/store but also other items, blog, forum etc. [Though I would think a store would be the 1st place to take a visitor but is not always the case - maybe a portal to other things]
Changing the mainpage changes content at the 'catalog' level only.
By editing includes/languages/english.php you can remove/replace 'Top' egs. '' or 'Home'. If removed then you will probably want to add a redirection from your top level URL to go direct to the catalog directory and hence the shop. See another recent post that I replied to for an example index.php

Define Mainpage allows you to update the main page content area of osCmax, which of course is the top level catalog page index.php. It does not allow you edit files that are not part of osCmax (like a regular old html page that you have created).

    Hi,
I havent got any non-OSCMax files. I have done very little with this site until I can resolve this issue. This is my home/top page url Martial-Arts-Supplies.co.uk :
Ive used OSCommerce itself before and am comfortable altering files if that is the route I need to take

See other thread - rename index.php to index.php.weird and replace with the example given.

Line 55 of the aforementioned english.php:
    PHP Code:
    define('HEADER_TITLE_TOP''');

    Hi,
Changed line 55 as suggested and set up 301 redirect from Top page to Catalog page. All seems fine.
    Thanks for your help
