Default dynamic mopics and folder owner permission

I have recently started using Oscmax v2_0_25 and have a query on file permissions when using dynamic mopics to create folders from the Admin panel.

From the Admin panel, when using dynamic mopics to upload image for a ProductA, I created a new folder for this product, folderA. Using ftp I can see that these folders are created as expected, with owner/group apache apache.

    /images/thumbs/folderA/productA.jpg
    /images/images_big/folderA/ProductA.jpg

Using ftp I would then like to load further images for this product, such as ProductA1.jpg, ProductA2.jpg. The issue is that my ftp access is for a user, for example, say it is ftpuser1 and I get a "critical file transfer error", when trying to load an image into folderA, presumably as I do not have permission to access "folderA" which is owned by user "apache".

What I am wondering is whether there is a way that I can get the folders created under the Admin panel to have the same owner/group as my ftp access, which should then allow me to upload additional images to these folders?

Or is there another way around this ? Any help appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Pippablue

Without knowing your server environment... a guess...
Zip them up, login to cPanel, go to File Manager, navigate to the relevant images directory, upload the zip, expand the zip.

    Thanks,

I tried that, though I am still denied permission to upload any images into the folders I created using the admin panel when loading individual products.

If it would be helpful, I can pm you my server_info.php details ?

As loading in images via cPanel should override permission issues, it does indicate a fundamental setup issue to me. (Windoze server, per chance, or some Plesk environments are strange.)

How about using Admin to upload additional images?
There is a very weird bit of obscure documentation called a wiki...

Your issue is that you are running mod_php, which runs php scripts as the apache user, not your account user.

This means anything auto created by the webserver/php scripts that run as the webserver will be owned by the webserver and not your account user. Thus, when you login to your user account via ftp, you will not have permission to modify anything created by the web server and you will have to use a script to modify (like a web based editor).

    Hi Michael,

Thanks for replying. I took a look at my php5 setting options from my Cpanel and they are:

    1) Run as apache Module (current setting)
    2) Run as CGI application

Just wondering if I change to option 2, would this be likely to fix this problem ?
