Gift vouchers

Stupid question of the day .... How does a customer purchase a gift voucher? The Voucher FAQs are clearly listed on the main page but where is the link to actually purchase?

You add different denominations as products, to purchase just like any other.
See Admin, Vouchers/Coupons, plus try the wiki (not sure if in there).

I looked in the Wiki for the information about the Vouchers/Coupons and there really isn't enough information to tell the correct way to setup the ability to purchase Gift Vouchers. Would it be possible for you to give me a screen shot of what one should look like when filled out? I am just not sure on the correct items to fill in on the form to make it work correctly.

Even though I have never set one up before now (that I can recall), it took less than 2 minutes to create a Gift Voucher, by following the wiki...

I did get that far, but it isn't showing up in the Categories column like your is. Is that something that I need to turn on? I have the status turned on after creating the Voucher, but it still isn't showing up.

Create a Category called Gift Vouchers, then Gift Voucher 'Products' within that for each denomination.

Disregard previous message. I read through the Wiki again and it says to create a new product in a Category called Gift Vouchers. Ok, so they purchase it just as they would any other product. I guess my question then becomes how do I set it up so that these are stored and then able to be used. I just placed a demo order through my site for the Gift Voucher I set up, but then it just acts like a normal product. I get my email and nothing further. How then would a customer end up using the Voucher they just purchased?

They use the code in the checkout process or follow the link in the email to credit their account.

Thank you for your reply. I guess my question is how to set it up so that one can be purchased. How does the server create a code for the Gift Voucher. I'm not referring to one that I made for a special occasion. I'm referring to a purchasable Gift Voucher that one customer can send to another person. We already offer Gift Cards which can be purchased through the website, but those are mailed (Postal) to the customer or recipient and then they can use them by adding the number to the comment field or over the phone. The Gift Voucher was a great addition as we do get several requests to be able to purchase an on-line Gift Card (Voucher) for someone and have it emailed and then be usable on the website. I have read through the Wiki and through hundreds of threads, but nobody has said how to make it work. You can see our Development site by going to https://catdev.theflyshop.com

When a customer purchases a gift voucher, it gets sent to the admin Gift Voucher Queue, which you then have to approve as the admin. Then, once approved, the customer gets emailed their voucher confirmation and it is automatically attached to their account.

Then they can use it on any purchases or they can login to their account and send it to anyone they want to.
