Default EasyPopulate and subcategories

I've uploaded products today with EasyPopulate. The products are showing on my catalog main page but nowhere else. They were listed in 3 sub-categories in the spreadsheet. Do I need to create links for the sub-categories?

To get a real 'handle' on how it works; create products in sub-categories, download using EP (with model numbers ), then look at the file in a spreadsheet. Pay attention to the settings for EP that are shown in the Admin screen, right-hand side.

Good idea ... but the admin panel will only allow me to create categories and products - not sub-categories.

There is no limit on sub-categories (AFAIK) but I'd suggest no more than 4.
Create a test category. Click on it's 'folder' icon to open the category, then create a new category (called say test-sub-category).

You create sub categories by navigating into the top category - click the folder icon. You will then be in the top category. Click the new category button when inside a category. Instant sub-category.

That's just the info I needed, thanks.

I created sub-cats and a product and downloaded the file (as per Ridex's instructions). Unfortunately, all the info went into one cell in the spreadsheet, which made it kind of difficult to read.
But I did see that the name in the category header cell didn't quite match what I had and I noticed in the Admin column in the right that it's using a newer version of EasyPopulate.

I was using 2.72 so I have now downloaded 2.76 and will try that.

That worked, so the problem was EP 2.72

Post Re: EasyPopulate and subcategories

The post was in the 'Max section, so the assumption was that you were already on EP 2.76g.
