Default Some help needed, simple help, newbie here!!

Could someone please give me some simple step by step directions on how to delete the install folder and change configuration file permissions to 444 and the admin configuration file permissions to 444. I have no idea how to do this and the instructions are pretty vague in the manual, so some simple step by step instructions would greatly be appreciated. You can email me them to if it is easier.
thanks so much in advance...will print them out for future reference!

    nadinesky,

You will need some FTP software or use the online FTP client offered by your webhost (probably).

    Eg. FTP Software - FileZilla

You will need your FTP details which will be provided by your web host.

Enter these in to Filezilla, then ...

It works exactly like Windows Explorer ... you just have local files (the ones on your computer) and remote files (the ones on the webserver).

Find the install directory in FileZilla and right click and delete.

To change file permissions (chmod) again right click, permissions, set to 444 in the screen that pops up.

    Regards,

Hello Nadinesky. I am not an expert but have been in your spot before. you need to go in the httpdocs folder and then navigate to your location of the files you want to change. Right click and then go file permissions change to 444 for configure. You should in theory have permission to do this if you do not it won't change. Then you need to contact your host and tell them you need permission to change the files or get them to do it.

    Hope this helps.
