Thumbs down OSCMax Install and Configuration

I had someone else setup the OSC max with a template from DreamTemplates.com (485)

After I looked at the site and worked on setting up products, I wanted to change the title on the main home page, plus change any of the meta tag information. I cannot find anything that will make the change. The files meta_tags.php, and the file in the admin folder didn't make any changes to anything.

Now, the front page (home page) is the template, and right clicking on it to view source shows it as a frameset. However, I cannot find this file at all.

Another thing I noticed is that there is no /catalog directory, and the .htaccess was not setup with the entries outlined in the installation documents.

I am able to get into the Admin and set the page for maintenance, but I didn't see any changes to categories, etc.

    1. Could you please tell me where I can find how OSC feeds the main page to the public so I can change that file?
    2. Is there a way I can check to see if my OSC max setup is setup correctly?
    3. If any of this information is in teh osC E-book, I'll get the e-book. However, I would like to make sure my site is secure and ready to use.

    Thanks.

    Dino

Smile Re: OSCMax Install and Configuration

    Dino,

osCmax is template driven ... so any files you need will be in the template folder.

    catalog/templates/<your template>

This is set in the admin panel --> Configuration --> My store --> Default Template Directory

I don't think your site should be in frames but post your url and I will have a look for you.

The main template file is called main_page.tpl.php which use stylesheet.css all the rest of the template content is in a folder called content in <your template>

    Hope this helps,
    pgmarshall

    Thanks Marshall,

Here is the site. I didn't set it up, but I will be peforming several installs of OSCMax for future clients. I will be purchasing the manual, so I'll get nasty with OSCMax.

Here is the site: The Peddlers Pavillion

Guess what I just visited the site and now it is feeding the right page. Take a look.

What it was feeding before was a frameset. I'm wondering if my Internet Cache was causing the issue. I'm using Firefox and I forgot where to clear it

I did find where to change the 0011 and so I can make that change.

Now the Meta_Tags.php is where you make changes to the title, etc. I'm sure the documentation will have that information for me. But what is your take on the Primary Secondary and Teritary sections? Why so complicated? It's just a title, right?

    Thanks for your help

It was a maintenance page. I turned off maintenance, so the original page is there.

    Thanks again for looking

Thanks. The site is working appropriately now. I've purchased the e-book, and now I'm working on learning the back-end of OSC.

It was due to my Internet Cache. Using Firefox, it retains several versions of a site in the address bar, so I cleared all history, and it works fine.

    Thanks for the help.
