Product info image not showing

Hi Michael and ridexbuilder,
Ok after trying to get this working correctly for over a week with mix results I decided to post my steps here to see if we can't figure out what's wrong and how we can fix this. Please forgive the long post but I am hoping that we can figure this out.

First, I deleted the old images folder and install a new images folder. I than just added the images for one category in order to make my testing as simple as possible. I put all my thumbnails into the thumbs/ folder and all my large images into my images_big. I than use EasyPopulate to inport all the products and images to the test store. For the thumbnail I use the following path thumbs/image.jpg (image being the name of the images). I than went into my admin and on the Dynamic MoPic I set the following setting:

Big Images Directory = images_big/
Thumbnail Image Directory = thumbs/
Main Thumbnail in the Thumbnail Directory = true

and these are the results I got for these setting;

Homepage - All images are present and when I click on any of the "New Products for the Month" images the product page opens ok and when I click on the "click to enlarge" link the correct large images opens the the path is correct. I than click back to the home page.
Categories - I now click on my category and the category page opens ok and all sub categories images are present and the path is correct (images/thumbs/...jpg) So I click on one of the sub-category images which opens the page with all the products under that category and no images are present and the path to the images changes to the following images/thumbs/thumbs/image.jpg (notice the two thumbs/). However if I click on any of the missing images the proper product page opens and the "click to enlarge" images is present and when I click on it. The correct large image opens with the correct path to the large image.

I than change my MoPic setting to the following:

Big Images Directory = images_big/
Thumbnail Image Directory =
Main Thumbnail in the Thumbnail Directory = true

and these are the results I got for these setting;

Home Page - No images are present and the path point to /images/image.jpg So I than click on my category and the category page opens but again none of my category images are present and the path is pointing to /images/image.jpg but all the "New Products for the Month" are present with the correct path and when I click on these images the product pages opens but the "click to enlarge" does not work. Link is missing. However when I click on any of the missing sub-category the product images for that category are present with the correct path of images/thumbs/image.jpg but when I click on those images the product page opens and the image is prsent but the "Click to Enlarge" links are again missing and do not work.

I than change my MoPic setting to the following:

I try everything that I can think of but I'm not having any luck in getting everything to work correctly at the same time. Can you help me get this working properly? I'm pretty sure that this is the same problems that alot of the people here are having with their images. I believe that the first setting above would work for everyone if we can figure out why does the images path for the sub-sub-category, which is the category that show the products for that one category, Changes to images/thumbs/thumbs/images.jpg. By sub-sub-category what I am referring to is ex. Chess - Theme - Fastasy.

Hi ridexbuilder, I'm a little confuse here, could you please explain this a little for me. I'm just trying to understand this a little so that I can better understand how osMax actually works. As I read this;

Main Thumbnail in the Thumbnail Directory = false

It is telling me that all the main thumbnails, (to me this would be the thumbnails that you see when you go to a category page), are in the Thumbnail directory. Which would be true because that is where I place all my small thumbnails. When I set this to true it seens that everything works ok except for the sub-sub-sub-page as I stated above.

This is the layout that I have:

In the Categories Menu I have a Category on Chess Sets When you click on it a sub category page opens that give you two options Boards and Themes.

In the Boards and Theme page there are two small thumbnails label Boards and Theme as well as the "New Products For The Month" thumbnails. The thumbnail on this page are working correctly. And when I right click on these thumbnail the path to these thumbnails are correct ( images/thumbnails/image.jpg). Now when you click on one of these options thumbnails "Boards or Theme", in this example lets say "Theme".

When I click on Themes another sub-sub page opens that shows all the different chess themes that we offer for example' American, Medieval Times, Fantasy, etc. and again all the "New Product for The Month". On this page All the thumbnails are also present and are working properly. And when I right click on any of these thumbnals the path is also correct (images/thumbnails/image.jpg).

Now when I click on any of these themes in this example lets say "Fantasy" another sub-sub-sub page opens that shows all the different "Fantasy" Chess Sets that we offer. And this is the page where I am having the problem with, because no products thumbnails are visible except for the "New Product for The Month" thumbnails. Which I find strange because if I right click on any of the "New Products of The Month" thumbnails the path is correct (images/thumbnails/image.jpg). However if I right click on any of the Fantasy Chess set thumbnail on this same page I find that the thumbnails are not visible because it is looking for the thumbnails in a sub-thumbnail folder, (images/thumbnails/thumbsnails/image.jpg).

I believe that if we can find out why it is looking for a /thumbnails/thumbsnails/ folder on this page this would fix the problem because when I click on one of the missing products thumbnails on this page, the product discription page open and the click to enlarge thumbnail is present. And When I click on this thumbnail the larger picture in the images_big folder does opens up. And this only happens when I have the;

Main Thumbnail in the Thumbnail Directory = true

With all other setting combinations that I had try the larger picture in the click to enlarge link does not open. All that I get with the other combination is the small thumbnail.

I guess what I am not understanding is what is the Main Thumbnail? And Why does the correct larger picture in "click to enlarge" opens only when I set this to true?

Hi ridexbuilder, I try the code that you posted and I can see the changes in the admin Dynamic Mopic section but the images are still not showing up in the admin when you add a product or when you update a product. I also spend all day today trying to get the images to work on all levels of the product pages with no luck. I just found more ways that this won't work.

Hiya, just had the same problem when installing it fresh with the image situation. Am new here signed up today. Have you resolved it yet? If not this is how I fixed it as the developer advised above. Went to

Admin>Configuration>DynamicMopics

Once on that page the forth line down "Thumbnail Images Directory"
Press edit and clear the whole box, leave empty and update. Worked out for me. Regards

I haven't forgotten about this - there's a lot of work to do... (for someone with limited php knowledge).
There is a bug in the function "mopics_get_imagebase" - if Main Thumbnail In "Thumbnail Images Directory" is set to true, then the bug is activated. This may not show up for everyone though. Any images with filenames exceeding 15/16 characters (was going cross-eyed, counting) will have their filename truncated. Not good. As a point of reference, I do not wish thumbnails to be stored alongside other images but I'm trying to get a workaround for the whole Dynamic MoPics thing.

The ultimate aim:
images : system-wide images/logos etc.
|- images_big : full-size products images
|- thumbs : obvious by now
|- categories : doesn't seem to be coded, currently
|- banners

Wish 'Max' had stuck with MoPics (without the dynamic bit) and had auto thumbnail generation, like one other osC-derivative that I know of.

Judoka: I must say, that I won't specifically address multi-level subcategories. You should really consider limiting this to, say, 3 levels total - think on how the customer is going to navigate the site... click, click, click, click.... oh Jeez, not again.... close.

Without using any MoPics options (blank entries in Admin), do your sub-categories/products show up correctly beyond 2 category levels? I couldn't see sub-categories in the main area, only within the category tree Info. Box.

Update: Now got front-end (customer facing) working to two sub-category level eg. Catalog >> Big Section >> Smaller Section. Big images and thumbnails are in the correct directories, with the 'Click to Enlarge' working. This is also the case for additional product images.
Just the Admin side to sort out.... what a palaver!

Latest iteration now ready for those brave enough to try (website link below).
Admin now displays thumbs, acting as a reminder when you can't see them, to upload to the thumbs directory. Additional pics should follow the convention of using images_big and thumbs directories, as per the main pic.
