I am using googlexml_sitemap_seo_v_1-1.1 and was getting
Duplicate header tags as above
Duplicate descriptions as above
Duplicate meta tags as above

All the URLs in your Sitemap have the same priority. 
All the URLs in your Sitemap are set to the same priority (not the default priority). Priority indicates the importance of a particular URL relative to other URLs on your site, and doesn't impact your site's performance in search results. If all URLs have the same priority, Google can't tell which are more important.

It corrected the duplicates by running the cron job for googlexml_sitemap_seo_v_1-1.1 on the second time around and waited for google to update.
But i am still to work out the priority thing with 160 url's

Thanks for the update. I personally use a different addon that works very well for me. It is very easy to install, and requires no modification to work.

You need only to open each file and put in a little data for your site. Then, you can check them out by visiting them on your browser. If they are good for you, submit them to Google, instead.

I tried that link to create the XML on the fly - I just copied the php file into the main root of the shop but when I run it, there is no output in the XML file - just get "This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below." and <urlset>
</urlset>

Thats it - is it not as simple as just copying this file to your root directory - I am a hack of a programmer so not sure if I have to modify the code or not either (which one shouldn't have to do).

Ok so I now realise I have just uploaded one page because it was at the top of the list on the extension - its the worst extensions section of any website I have seen - so confusing.

Anyway, have downloaded all the files but it doesn't look that simple to install and can this be installed on oscmax without any problems?

For me, did no modifications. Just put in where the files belong, and that was it. Yes, it worked without any problems on oscmax.

Copied all the files across - xml files into the root directory and the folder googlesitemaps and files within. Followed the instructions, gave xml files permissions then tried to access mydomain/googlesitemap/index.php and got the following error. No idea how to find the error in php or to turn them on so I can get actual pages or line numbers.

Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Please contact the server administrator, XXX@xxxx.com and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.
More information about this error may be available in the server error log.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

It appears you are not using the contribution that I referenced above in the post. The one I posted required none of what you said. All you do is download the contribution (the first one), and then you will read the install.txt in there. You will see that you merely drop the file into the catalog directory, and then you give that URL to google.

You seem to be trying the same sitemap contribution I use, and it works great for me. It has nothing to do with the issue discussed on this thread, so if you need help feel free to open another one.
