Default How to handle image uploading

This is a General question to gain knowledge about how best to upload Thousands of images to a new store in osCMax
link each image to a product by url FCKeditor?
By choosing upload image for every product?
Bulk upload images to the image directory & thumbs?
Are these the only ways? and if not what other ways are there of achieving this with updating also in mind.
your experiences advice would be much appreciated
    Thanks

    1) FTP images up
    2) Use imagmagic for thumbnail generation
    3) Use easypop to associate images to products
    (a. download all products with easypop b. merge filenames to spreadsheet c. easypop up)
    4) for multiple images use mopics
    so endith the lesson

imagemagic also allows you to generate a text or graphic watermark. Reduces image theft.

No dreaming required. All easypop does is update the database. if you keep your images in /image (and I actually recommend changing that a bit so that image thieves can't pull from a directory - say use /storeimgs or something that isn't easy for the thief to guess. then change the pointers in the configuration files to point to the new location) then they should be found when you update the database with the image names.
