Admin password doesn't work

OK, I obviously did something wrong setting up a new cart last night. I set the admin username and password, and today I can't log in as admin. I tried the "Password Forgotten?" button, but it doesn't email me anything. After 3 tries, it says so contact my "system administrator". Well, I AM the sys admin, but I don't know how to reset the password.

Also, any hints on how to prevent this from happening in the future? I thought I was being very careful in writing down exactly what I put in each field when I set the admin password.

Use copy/paste instead of writing it down and save to a password manager. Removes human error.

To reset the password, you will need to run a query on the database. Empty the admin table and then use the installation sql file to add the default records. If you search the forums, this has been explained several times in full detail.
