Default SMTP issues

I just installed OSCMAX 2.0 yesterday and had a chance to start changing some of the settings. When I attempt to send mail via smtp it gives me an error:
__________________________________________________ _________
Warning: mail() [function.mail]: SMTP server response: 550 <kblocksom@alltel.net> No such user here in E:inetpubvhostssouthern-delights.comhttpdocsadminincludesclassesemail.php on line 521

Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at E:inetpubvhostssouthern-delights.comhttpdocsadminincludesclassesemail.php: 521) in E:inetpubvhostssouthern-delights.comhttpdocsadminincludesfunctionsgeneral. php on line 150

Now I know that I have read several posts that state that oscmax uses the default for smtp.

When I had osCommerce v2.2 RC2a. I put in a ddon that allowed me to specify the settings for smtp info. Is there something else that I need to configure to allow this feature to work?

Thanks

Kevin

Default Re: SMTP issues

On Windows or Unix/Linux host? If Windows-not sure what the issue is - check the settings and your email - it may be blocked unless if a certain email or domain??? IF UNIX or Linux - using the wong option - use sendmail.

Default Re: SMTP issues

It turns out after looking at the KB for my web host, that their mail servers require authentication so I went ahead and installed the contribute

smtp through the authentication smtp server

Now my emails work like a charm.
