OSCMAX on linux / windows

Hi,

At home I have a customized version of OSCMAX on a windows-computer. I have installed a XAMPP server.
I want to host my shop with a hosting-provider. I can choose a windows or a linux server.

Hosting on a linux server is cheaper, so if this is possible, I prefer that. However, I do not want any transfer or maintain related problems ...

So, my question is: Do I have to host on a windows server ?

You do not. In fact, I would highly recommend you a Linux/*nix server, and not a Windows one. I would surely not want to have my OSCommerce or OSCMAX stores hosted on a Windows server.

In fact, once I even tried to host a local copy on a Windows installation running EasyPHP, and I failed miserably at geting mod_rewrite and Ultimate SEO URL to work on it. I gave up. But, the point is, you will find easily many more problems if your store is hosted on a Windows machine, than if it is hosted on a Linux machine.
