    Default Heart Internet and SSL

I need to set up my SSL on my store. I am hosted with heart internet who I am very satisfied with. I contacted their customer support regarding SSL, and got some answers i will post in a second.

Firstly when I click on the ssl button in my hosting I get a message saying

A secure server (SSL) allows you to accept data securely via your website. We have activated SSL automatically for you.

But now do i apply it to the important pages of my catalog.

    In responce I got

We offer a shared certificate which is installed on all of our servers which is available to all account and is in the format of https://secure-secure.co.uk/MYDOMAIN.co.uk/ this is the certificate that you currently have on your site.
For it to work with the application you are using you will need to edit the config file(s) for it so that is has the correct path for the SSL area of your site as it can only be accessed via https://secure-secure.co.uk/MYDOMAIN.co.uk/

So what do i need to edit in my config file/s?

well in your includes map there is file Configure.php in that file you can setup your SSL connection but i dont know how it really complete works because i never used it, but i think there is some documentation off this.

I found some info over at oscommerce.

I got it to work on the admin area fine, but was having trouble with the catalog area, but i think there was a problem with my ftp program.

Is ssl important in the catalog, because as soon as you head over to the payment page it takes the user to protx website, does it need to be more secure?

i guess not if protx website is secured and the payments are done there then you dont got to have ssl in your front end of your webshop. the only thing i can think of are the account pages but that's it.
