Default Store on the Website

I am a complete "newby" to the world of osCMax. My web hosting provider installed the program to the domain specified for me. After that, I logged into the program and changed a few of the features (credit cards, company information, etc.) and added one product. When I go to the internet and type in my store address (Index of /) I see the Index Of information instead of a home page. I am almost certain that I am missing an integral part of the process here. Is there anyone that can point me in the correct direction on this one?

Where to start?

1) the person who did the install put the catalog in a /catalog directory. You can either
a) move it up to the root and change the configuration files
b) use .htaccess to re-write the root to the /catalog sub-directory
c) use a "redirect" in the thdex file that redirects all calls to the root to the /catalog sub-directory

2) when you go to /catalog you get:
Warning: Installation directory exists at: /home/victgar3/public_html/victoriaskimboards-store/catalog/install. Please remove this directory for security reasons.
Warning: I am able to write to the configuration file: /home/victgar3/public_html/victoriaskimboards-store/catalog/includes/configure.php. This is a potential security risk - please set the right user permissions on this file.

This is not a good thing. Either rename or remove the install sub-directory and then change the permissions on the configure.php file.

Whomever set the shop up for you did about 1/2 of the job. I sure as hell hope that they didn't actually charge you for the install as it is incomplete.
