Default Rc3.0.1

I'm looking for a thread that will give me some details on how to update my client's catalog site with the RC3.0.1 patch. Kind of an urgent thing.

Thanks

The instructions are included in the patch.

Hi Michael,
I downloaded the RC3.0.1 patch looking for the upgrade instructions and either I am missing it or it is not there. When I unzip the file I have the following files in the folder.

1)catalog folder
2)Changelog
3)FAQ
4)install
5)License
6)Readme
7)Readme_osCMax_1_7
Readme_osCMax_2_0
9)Readme_osCMax_Graphics
10)Standard
11)tep_database-pr2.2-CVS
12) TODO

That's it. I open all of these files and none of them had any upgrading instructions in them. Can you tell me what am I missing?

I have upgraded my database and I believe I have eveything working and ready to be uploaded up to my live site on AAbox but before I did that I would like to make sure that I did everything correct.

This is what I have done can you tell me if these step are correct for upgrading from osCmax1.7 to osCmax RC3.1.

1) first I downloaded a copy of my live database from AAbox and imported it into a test database on my local computer.
2) I than created a new database which I use to install RC3.1 and than I ran mysqldiff to create the sql script to upgrade the first test database.
3) I than copy all the RC3.1 catalog files to over write the old osCMax1.7 files and than install my new template.

Everything seens to be working ok but I would like to know if this is the correct way to do this? As I think that I am ready to upload everything to my live site and I want to make sure that I don't mess anything up. I don't know if this is the place for this post so I will also submit a help ticket to AAbox just in case.

Thanks Michael

That is not the patch. You downloaded the full osCMax package. You cannot use the patch though, as it is only for upgrading RC2 to RC3.

Regarding how you completed the upgrade, yes it looks like you did everything correctly.

Now, before you do anything to your live site, make sure you do full backups of the files and the database. Only after you have backed up the current site should you attempt the upgrade on the live server.

Thanks Michael, One last question as far as for the database, to upgrade the live database do I run mysqldiff again this time compareing the live database to the test database or do I just export the test database and than import it to the live database or do I run the sql script on the live database, that was created when I update my test database?

Again Thank you Michael

Never work on your live database.

What you should do is put your current site offlline (maintenance mode or block web access to it to avoid any new orders coming in while you work).

Then make a copy of the live database locally on your computer and run mysqldiff on it again repeating what you did for your test, comparing the oscmax 2 db to your 1.7 db. Then make the changes to the structure of the 1.7 db to make it v2.0 compatible.

DB upgrades are tricky, so good luck to you!

Hi Michael,
I finished upgrading my site to RC3.1 and so far everything looks good except for 3 things that I notice right off the bat and I was wondering if you could help me with these.

1) first at the bottom left of the every page you can see the following error message;

a href="http://www.instantssl.com" id="comodoTL">SSL

I know that it has to do with my comodo seal but my question is if on my local computer I am not getting this message why is it showing up on my live site? And do you know how I can fix this?

2) Second the click to enlarge images has stop working on my live site but it works fine on my local computer. Could you please tell me why it would stop working on my live site?

3) On my admin panel I notice that there are some links that are missing which are on my local computer. Such as the Infobox Admin, Article Manager, Batch Print Center, Page Cache Setting, Dynamic MoPics, SEO URLs and a few others. Could you please tell how can I get these links back?

You can view my view site at GiftsUniqueShop : Welcome to GiftsUniqueShop - Your Online Discount Gift Shop.

Thank You Michael.

Hi Michael
please disregard item number 1 above I got the comodo seal error fixed, I was just missing the first "<".
I've been looking at item #2 above and I was wondering since the Dynamic MoPics link is missing from the admin as I stated in item #3 above could this be the reason why the click to enlarge is not working?

Yep, looks like you are missing some of the new configuration settings for the latest osCMax version. I suggest you get the default configuration data from a standard osCMax 2 RC3 install and overwrite the configuration table with the default data.

This will wipe out your store name, email address, etc, so you will have to re-enter them, but it will save you a lot of time with random problems like you are having.
