Hi, I recently launched a website at w w w DOT t h e c a r t r i d g e s h o p DOT com.au and have only now found out about oscmax.... it looks like it has everything we would ever need as far as features go so I was curious how difficult it would be to migrate the site to oscmax and to redo the design. Unfortunately I didn't do the coding work on the site it was someone else and I'll need him to help me with it. I'd just prefer to migrate sooner rather than later so I can get the proper optimised pages indexed by god I mean google rather than building PR and SERP and then losing it because my URLs change. So would I be a fool staying with OScommerce? or it it too hard basket to replicate what we've done so far into oscmax? Thanks for any comments. If posting the url like this is against the rules mods please delete it and I'll provide it to interested parties by PM.

I am trying to do something similar. I have an osCommerce site up and running and am in the process of changing it over to osCMax. I have found that if you export your product database as a CSV, you can then import the entire product base into osCMax. Then just change the rest of the info in the admin page. If you have changed any of the files in osCommerce for your website, then I would put osCMax in a different directory, play with it and get it working and then change (or add) your redirect in the DOThtaccess file and google will be none the wiser and you won't lose any rankings you have gotten. If you haven't changed any of the files, I would think you should be able to just upload all of the files to the current directories, replacing the old files (except the database and backup) and then updating the website in the admin pages. But remember to copy every file that you currently have to a safe place in case it doesn't work, so you can delete the new install and copy back the old files to the right directories.

yeah I think I'm going to leave my current site running as is, make a complete new copy of it on oscmax, see how i like the look and functionality and then if I think it's good, do a 301 redirect. Redirects are such wonderful things. What sux is that right now I don't have the time nor the php knowledge to really get stuck into it.
