    Default Must Select Attribute Options

    Hi Guys,

I'd like to force the customer to select a product attribute option before they can add a product to the cart. As it stands right now, a customer can go in and add a product to the cart and not notice that there are options available. Then they get the product and it's wrong because they didn't pay attention.

I have seen a contribution called "Must Select" that came out a while ago, but before I dove into installing that one, I'd like to know if I'm missing a feature in the current OSCM RC3 that would let me to the same thing. Can I do this right now?

If not I'd say that this is a mandatory add on for the next release...

    Thanks.

I've gone ahead and installed the older Must Select contribution from the OSC site. It was taking me too long to find a answer here so I just did it over myself....

I did search through the forums here but I ran into a lot of the same questions that had no answers or when there was an answer that I could find , it was just a link that said "Look at this thread" and pointed to an older OSCdox thread which doesn't work any more. Maybe I didn't use the right combmination of search terms to find the answer you had specified. When you click on those old thread links it just sends you back to the main OSCmax forum index page to start over. Though I appreciate the hard work you guys put into everything and the fine package you have put together, some of the search capabilities on the forum are lacking because of the legacy conversion issues, and a response of "search the forums" has lead me to a dead end.

Now don't get me wrong. I do support on some other forums and run into the problem of repeating myself a million times and getting frustrated with users who don't want to take the time to search. So I feel your pain and I know you guys get frustrated. Just try to keep an open mind and things will get better the more mature this new forum becomes.

    Thanks!

Sorry but - Look at this thread:

Remove New Products For Month & Where to Put Javascript

Yes there is some older reference to a few older MAX versions (1.0, 1.5, 1.7). And yes there is a few threads that do not have solutions - mainly because lack of (proper or detailed) information or because not many people feel like posting if there solution was solved or how it was solved.

As well as the forums was moved a few months ago so some links may have been broken - please bring broken links to our attention so we can fix these.

WE NEED OTHER people to help. Me and Mike (and the other 3 or so common posters) can't devote 100% of our time to MAX (but we try as much as possible). We (like many others) have families that like to eat once in a while....

Thanks for understanding - I know at time I am a broken record and many time say see this thread/posting etc.... I try to give good information but due to lack of tones of spare time - I don't have the time to give GREAT DETAILED information all the time.

Searching the forum is the best suggestion to all new questions to (hopefully) find an appropriate answer - or at least a basic understanding or stating point.

Cause MAX has so many MODS - some times adding another one you have problems due to the code has been MOVED or ALTERED or even REMOVED entirely. We have tried to comment code that has been added/changed as best as we can.

THE BEST THING FOR YOU (and any one else) IS TO GO BACK INTO A THREAD THAT YOU RECEIVED HELP ON AND TO POST YOUR SOLUTIONS (or steps that you did to resolve it). That way it will help other people!

Your absolutely right JPF, we do need other people to help. I'm as guilty as anyone for not posting my solutions. The problem is that I'm so concerned with making my solutions work, I don't record my steps and I have a hard time retracing and documenting everything that I did. I do make comments in the code, but I won't document the files that were changed for the specific change. Anyway, poor excuse I know, but it's something I'll work toward fixing in the future.

On the subject of the fix, and the posted link, I did see that thread, but most of the messages didn't pertain to my problem at hand, so I didn't read through the whole thread. The search terms that I was using didn't really spotlight the specific messages in that thread either, so my bad. Sorry about the hassle, and thanks again for the help.
