Please help me understand the Affiliates Cookie...

If a visitor is sent to my store by an affiliate link like this:

http://www.mydomain.com/store/index.php?cPath=1&ref=2

Which basically takes them to the TOP of a catagory (ie "FOOTWEAR").

When they choose from the available SUB-categories (ie "MENS", "WOMENS", or "CHILDRENS") and eventually complete the purchase of an specific item,

QUESTION: ...does the affiliate reference (ie "2" in this example) from their original entry into the store stick to their eventual purchase (so long as it has expired in X number of day)?

The reason I ask (aside from being naive) is that I don't see any subsequent "&ref=2" after the first one.

This aspect is SO confusing.

Hi,

As far as I am aware the ref in the url is registered in the users session as affiliate_ref.

You can test this by doing a php echo for $affiliate_ref on a page then accessing the site via another page (index.php?ref=2) and then loading your test page, you should see the affiliate ref number on that page!!
