| Well, as we draw closer to the launch of the store we've begun testing the rest of our check out process more completely. Up until now (probably dumb on my behalf) I've had no shipping module defined so I could test our custom payment processing files that we've written for OSC. I went to just activate UPS as normal just to see some basic calculations get ran.. and low and behold, the module seems broken? The shipping method shows up, identifies as the only available method but doesn't give any pricing. After that, you select "Continue" just to see if it works... nothing The actual link on the continue button on checkout_shipping just refreshes back to checkout shipping. I've not edited anything regarding checkout_shipping or of the like. I double checked all of my address book settings to eliminate any potential addressing issues, those are all sound. What could possibly be causing this to happen? If I remove the UPS module and basically mark all shipping as free everything goes through the checkout process as normal. I've been using oSC MS2.2 for about 2 years now and am pretty savvy with these carts.. at this point i'm stumped. I'm tempted to just copy the oscMS2.2 modules over to see if they work but I figured i'd ask you guys first. Thanks for your help |

| Well I tried one thing for the heck of it, I downloaded my ups.php from my other stores running oscMS2.2 and backed up the oscmax ups.php, tried it, and it worked. Any known issues on that ups.php? |

| I haven't used that one so I can't really comment on it but you can always check the quotes it gives you against the UPS site. The United Parcel Service (XML) is an awesome shipping module and you can get the recently updated version from the contributions page at the OSC site. UPS made some changes effective this year. Depending on what you are selling the product dimension support on the XML is really worth it. The packaging routine was just improved this week and it's really good if you have items that only go in certain boxes. If everything you sell is really simple then it might not matter but any OS boxes can create a nightmare with normal shipping modules

| ups xml is included by default in osCMax and is very different from the standard osC ups module. The oscmax ups module works fine, so most likely it is a server issue for you, as it requires that you have curl+ssl compiled into php.

| I guess I didn't word that correctly, but sometimes things only make sense to me. While the ups xml module is included by default it was updated in December to match some UPS changes. But, the packaging routine for dimensional support is significantly improved in the last 2 months. Only the two upsxml.php files need to be changed though. I guess it depends on what someone is selling as to how important the packaging routine using product dimensions will be. For some people it will make a huge difference in profit. Version 1.2.6 uploaded yesterday fixed an important bug in the routine.

| Ah, thanks for that. It is difficult to keep up with all the mod changes. Eventually it will get updated in osCMax, but we are still debugging other features before adding new ones.

| Hi Mike, I imagine it is very difficult to keep up on mod changes and some mod changes aren't very important or useful. Actually, this update for osmax is super simple. Only catalog/includes/modules/shipping/upsxml.php and the language files need to be changed. UPS made changes effective Jan 2nd in the services offered and rates. They also changed ground rates based on box dimensions on OS boxes. The module has improvements on insurance and can retrieve negotiated rates, although I have not used either of those options. I mainly only ship ground and only in the US so the service changes weren't much of an issue for me, but I do a lot of oversize boxes. The old packaging routine simply went off of product volume and would go to the largest box based (on cubic inches) available in the packaging table. So, you couldn't have an oversize box in your packaging table because it would use it for everything. Also, it would put an item that wouldn't fit into a box, so it had some major limitations. JanZ is pretty sharp and has improved the packaging routine so those limitations are gone. It uses the best box instead of just the largest and can use different sized boxes, which gets a more accurate quote. Dimensional weight is even more critical if 3-day select or faster is enabled. I modified the quickupdates for SPPC contribution to include product length, width, height, and ready to ship status to make product adjustments easier. I'll add that to the projects page here to make it easier for max users to take advantage of the dimensional support. Obviously, I'm passionate about this shipping module, but shipping is a big line on the P&L. Inaccurate quotes mean lost sales or lost profit. It's as important as having a great web host and we both know the value of that.

| You have to get a Developer's key and Access key from UPS. Have you done that because I believe that code is telling you that your access key is not a valid one. You have to go to UPS.com to get these.
