Default Really Confused About Merchant Accounts/Credit Card Proccesors. Help!

    Hi,

Currently developing a site for a client but he wants a complicated payment system. I've developed a few standard Oscommerce shops before but only ever linked them to Paypal so i'm a bit out of depth when it come to PDQ Machines/Credit Card Processors and Merchant Accounts.

Basically my client will be acting as an agent for another business and won't be holding any stock or taking payment. When a client goes to the checkout to make a payment they need to pay the other company who will then dispatch the goods.

Can anyone give me any advice on what is the eaisest way to do this? I've checked the other companies website and they're secure payment form is hosted on their server so i'm not sure how their credit card processor is.

Any help would be really appreciated.

    Many thanks

    James

It is pretty easy if you use a processor that already has a module built for osCommerce or osCMax. I will use Authorize.net as an example.

You first need to get a Merchant Account then you need to get a Payment Gateway, in this case Authorize.net and have it linked to your merchant account.

Then, once you have those, you simply enable the Authorize.net module in osCMax and enter in the required info (provided by Authorize.net). Then, make sure your account is properly set up to accept payments from your cart and you are done.

It is not as complicated as it seems. In fact the worst thing about the entire process is al the fees you will now have to pay on every sale you make...

    Hi Mike,

Thanks (again) for replying to my post!

I've just checked and my client does have a Merchant Account. Can anybody recommend a good payment processor for the UK?

One other small thing, does anybody know how to change the "Home" link in the links bar at the top? At the moment it's going to www.websitename.com and i need it to go to www.websitename.com/page1.html?

I've had a look around and i can't seem to find where the url is specified anywhere.

    Thanks in advance

    James
