Default Product Attributes Vs Inventory Qty

Ok, the main thing we sell is sewing patterns and each pattern comes in a variety of sizes. Lets suppose i have:
4 of Simplicity Sewing Pattern 12345 in size 6-12 &
2 of Simplicity Sewing Pattern 12345 in size 16-22

What I want to know is, should I create separate items for each size? OR
Is there an inventory quantity available for product attributes? So i could tell oscmax i have 4 of size 6-12 and i have 2 of size 16-22.

Thanks...
Bob

oscmax allows you to set the quantity for each attribute. That seems like it would be the way to go for you.

Well it didnt seem to work. The attributes seem to offer custom options based on price and not quantity. Am I mising something somewhere?? In attribute maager it asks what product you want to edit, and then gives you the options you assign but i dont see quantity.. only size in my case, value price, ad whether the price is a + or -

You don't manage the stock quantities from there. You go to the product and select 'Stock' and add the quantity there.

I see, then the answer for my original question is no then as we do not maintain quantities of all sizes of our patterns.

I will create an item for each size so the unique inventory quantity's can be used
