Front end MySQL manager for OSC

I am new to OSC and have two basic questions -

1 I want to setup a store with 1,000 products, including pictures, pricing, short and long descriptions, weight, etc. I can see that this can be added manually, but it would be a huge effort.

Is there a way to link the OSC/MySQL database with Excel or Access and initially, and then periodically edit and update the pricing and product structure, including the initial fields?

2 I want to be able to edit content text. Although I can see that php is a mass of interconnected php files, I don' see how I can "easily" add generic text around where the dynamic content is displayed. I can only think to have a standard static web, and have a OSC subsection so that a simple click will take the customer to the ecommerce area.

Please let me know how its done. I use DreamWeaver and FrontPage. Don't even ask

easypopulate in the admin... export an excel csv file from the admin panel. Edit in excel. Import the again via easypopulate.

2. What content text? Product info? Shipping/Info pages? Category descriptions? Main Page text? All are easily edited through the admin panel and in the case of products, also through the easpopulate editing.
