Default SEO URL's

I have set up SEO URLs and it seems to work fine in all areas except the home page. When the home page loads, it does not show index.html or whatever it is supposed to show. The address that shows is in this format:

http://www.shop.mysite.com/

config in My Store is set to false

config in SEO URLs is as follows:

enable= true
url type=rewrite
filter=3
cache=false

htaccess is uncommented in correct places as my site is in the 'catalog' directory and have replaced 'folder' with 'catalog'

Why is just the home page not showing any '*.html' in the address??

Anyone have any insight on this?

Default RE: SEO URL

1) there is no .html in the stores
2) it may be showing a .php, or if you have your site set up properly, it doesn't even have to show that. The root (http://www.yourdomain.com/) should be enough for the index to load.

Default RE: SEO URL

You may have misunderstood me. I know there is no .html in the stores. Before I enabled SEO URLs, the address DID show *.php. My 'perceived' problem, so to speak, is that there is nothing after http://www.shop.etc.com/

The site loads just fine, I repeat, it loads just fine....I was just wondering why there was nothing showing after the root on just the home page? Most of my other pages rewrite just fine except for the product description.....Ok, I just checked my site again and ALL pages are showing JUST the root as the address. Any insight on this one? I think I will dispense with the SEO URLs for now until this is ironed out.

Default RE: SEO URL

This is standard Apache directory indexing.

Your server probably has index.php and index.html listed as directory Indexes in httpd.conf. So, if the URL to the site is simply http://www.shop.etc.com/, it will automatcally fetch the index.php or index.html file, even though it is not listed in the url. Since it automatically fetches it, there is no need for it to be written to the url.

How about posting a url so we can see it in action...

met00, please do not assume things about me that are not true. I have never posted on the standard osc forums.

Michael, you have given me insight that I do appreciate. I always try to search the forums and figure things out myself before I post a question so as to not bother people with issues that have already been resolved or beaten to death already. Thank you for your help. I will try to get this done myself. If I get stuck, I will post my questions at that time. Thank you again.

bhejr,

the smiley face at the end of met00's post means that he is joking. He wasn't assuming anything, just making a joke at the expense of the osCommerce forums...

I realize that, and believe me, I am all for poking fun at the osCommerce forums. I know about smileys and all (remember CServe's CB Simulator?) Anyway, no real offense taken at all. I would like to say that met00 has provided some very valuable replies to other posts that I have found very useful as well. Hats off to you two, jpf, and all the other gurus who so unselfishly give your time and effort to those in need. Thanks guys!
