Default attribute "out of stock"

First I'll start off with saying I'm new to this forum and just installed Oscmax rc2 and so far I love it. I used to belong to the other group, but found the support lousy and needed a change. All the posts I've read in this forum are great and the support seems great so way to go everyone! You don't realize how much good support is hard to find for those of us with no expertise and it is really appreciated. I've learned so much already just reading the support docs.

Anyways, one of the problems I've encountered that I cannot find a post related to is when I create my products and attributes to those products I see an "out of stock" label beside them when I checked the "in stock" radio button while creating them. What am I missing?

When you're adding your products, are you making sure you add a quantity? If the product being added has no attributes, then you should make sure that you add the quantity in stock while creating the product (first field, right below the product descriptions and right above the field for the model number). If your product has attributes, you must add the quantity per attribute combination on the stock page (thank you, QTPro!!).

Thanks for your reply. Yes I've added a quantity when I added the product. I do have attributes, but the only stock page in admin is under configuration and I don't see where I would add the quantity per attribute combination there as you suggest. Am I missing something?

Default How to stock attributes...

Yes, you are missing something, but it is easy to miss. There are many 'Stock' settings. First, I will start with products, then move to attributes.
  1. When creating a product, not only do you have to mark it 'In Stock' but you have to also add a positive number to the 'Quantity' field, as it cannot be 'In Stock' if the quantity is zero.
  2. When creating attributes, you must check the 'Track Stock' checkbox. Once you have done this, apply your attribute to your product.
  3. Next, go to Catalog Categories/Products and click once on the product that you just added the attribute for. Then, click the Stock button in the right column. You will see a dropdown list with your attribute, and an input box to enter the quantity of that attribute in stock. Enter the quantity and click the Add button. Done.

I may be barking up the wrong tree here. But to prevent qty being shown make sure under Admin - Configuration - Product Listing - Display Product Qty, that the value is 0

Thanks Micheal, that did the trick, however now I get all my attributes added to the checkout when I only click on one. Any ideas?

Posting a url to your site is not against the rules, as long as it is relevant to the thread and not just for spamming. Since we are trying to fix your site, that is relevant.

Your problem is that you have added each as a separate attribute, and so they are all in different attributes lists. If this is how you want them, then you need to create a 'No Thanks' option for the attribute. If you want all attributes in a single dropdown list, you need to create your different attributes as options of a single attribute.
