Mine does the same, unless I use a very small image. However, when done, there is no indication of what became of the image.
<p>
Is there a readme file for this, preferably with step by step instructions?

depending on your connction speed and file size some uploads my take longer than others. Make sure the directory you are uploading to has the right file permissions i.e. test with CHMOD 777, I'm not sure if you can back off the complete read and write permissions but test with 777 just to make sure the directory can be written to.

Typically a PHP error message will come up (depending on how you have your errors set up to display in your browser. Make sure they are not ignored or turned off so you can see any error messages, then trouble shoot from there.
