Looking for new Tax Zone

I want to create a seperate tax zone for rest of states except the home state where different tax would be applied.
Current options are selecting individual state or All states in Tax zones under country. I want a new tax zone where it should be all states(except home state) so when the VAT sales report is generated it provides sales for home state and Rest of States seperately which is needed for filing monthly VAT returns.

Any options how to set up tax zones for rest of states. One option is to create tax zone for each state which makes it cumbersome. I want one tax zone for rest of the states under country.

I am by no means an expert on the tax setup but what you are asking is standard functionality. You just need to edit the sub-zones rather than making each one a tax zone in its own right.

1. Location/Taxes -> Tax Zones -> Insert -> US ex. {your state}
2. Select this new zone -> Click Details
3. Insert each state you want to include in the tax rate
4. Go back to zones -> Create a new zone for {your state}
5. Click Details again
6. Add {your state}
7. Go Location/Taxes -> Tax Rates
8. Select New Tax Rate
9. Add your new tax zones (both with the same priority) with the relevant rate to Taxable Goods

Since order can not be in tax zones you should get the desired outcome.

Thanks PGM. I added new Tax zone as suggested and tried checking out with new account outside homestate and it work OK.
I checked in to Monthly Sales/VAT Summary and came across a different issue
All additional orders(after 1st order) placed on the same day is showing in exempt sales but Tax collected shows total tax for all orders. Taxable Sales is showing only the first order placed for the day. I noticed only today it is for orders created today after creating new tax zone and also for test orders created last week. Not sure if this is reported before.

Just noticed that when checking by month, its showing Nil for Exempt sales but when clicked in detailed report by month, it shows orders added to exempted sales by date.
I had a different tax zone for World which shows all countries which I removed/deleted. Checked Monthly Sales/Tax when I got the issue reported now.

What code to be added to show columns for Taxable Sales by Tax rate and Tax collected by Tax rate in monthly sales/Tax summary.

Yes it looks like the same bug which I could see. I am still in 2.5B3 1153.

I added back the Tax Zone for World(no tax rate) but the Sales/Tax Summary remains as reported in bug tracker.

The bug is not related to your tax zones - I think it is a bug in the report module ... I have tested the latest version and the bug is fixed - however, there are some modifications to this module for osCmax (using gift vouchers) which may need merging into the source.

Thanks. I now need to split the Taxable Sales and Tax collected by Tax rates. How to modify the report to show sales by diff tax rates.
