Send Email Feature Not Sending Images Correctly

Hi All,

A site I built sometime ago running an older version of Oscmax has recently stopped sending emails correctly via the "Send Email" function. Text sends fine and I can attach images which show up in the admin but when the email is sent the email received shows an outline of where the photo should be but no image is shown. I've tried several different email accounts with several different images and everytime the exact same thing happens.

Has anybody encountered anything like this before or has a solution? I'm hoping it's something simple like a permissions/settings tweak.

Gotta say, I've never noticed an attachment feature in the standard email function. Embedding an image will not work.

Hi,

Under "Tools" > "Send Email" using FCK Editor you can embed an image into the email (maybe attachment was the wrong word to describe it).

I've been told this was working fine and the images were displaying until recently, if it will not work why is the option there in the first place?

Does nobody have a solution/idea as to how to solve this or even where I can start looking? I'm sure it's something quite simple like a permissions setting, it's driving me crazy!

Make sure the path to the images are correct. Normally FCK produces relative paths to images that will not work in an email. You have to change the relative paths that FCK produces to be static urls that source the images. So instead of having /path/to/image.jpg in your source, it will have to be http://site.com/to/image.jpg

That is the only way that you will be able to embed images into an email.

Thanks for the reply, I've tried that by adding the site url to the image src and it displays fine on the preview page however when the email is received it's still not showing up. Looking at the email source it looks like some code is being automatically inserted into the image code. Where the url should be src="http://www.websitename.com/UserFiles/Image/imagename.jpg" it's coming through as src=3D"http://www.websitename.com/UserFiles/Image/imagename.jpg" which I guess is breaking the link? Presumably this is in one of the FCK Editor files?

No idea. FCKeditor is a dead project which I haven't used in over a year (maybe more). It is no longer in current osCmax releases. You should not be using it anymore. I would switch to something more current like CKeditor, the successor to FCK and much much better.

Unfortunately the site has been extensively modified by a developer so upgrading to a more recent version whcih doesn't use FCK Editor is out of the question. Thanks anyway.

Not what I suggested.

I suggested you remove FCK and replace with CK. Quick 10 minute change.

Okay sounds like a possibility, is their a guide/thread on here for doing that or would I need to go to the CK site and work it out from there? I don't normally do much development work (mainly front-end coding) so hopefully shouldn't be too challenging!
