    Question Attributes Sort Order

    Hi!

I was wondering if Attributes Sort Order will be integrated into osCmax at some point. As I am dealing with 20 to 30 options in an ascending order for some products, adding extra options is at a later point is extremely time consuming.

According to the latest Ajax Attribute Manager manual, it is prepared to add this feature but unfortunately, I have not much PHP programming skills besides of copy and paste.

Or should I have a look into EasyPopulate as a workaround?

Thanks for your reply, as this is really important to me.

Can you post a link to the relevant code for integrating into AJAX Attribute Manager?

    @ pgmarshall
Thanks for having a look into this This is the link to the Ajax Attribute Manager on oscommerce.com:
    osCommerce Community Add-Ons

Download and extract version 2.8.9 (second from above) and open install/install.htm. Scroll down to "Instructions for sort order plugin" for instructions. When you set "AM_USE_SORT_ORDER' , true" in AttributeManager/classes/attributeManagerConfig.class", the Admin Panel should feature the extra up an down buttons as seen in this screenshot:

Addendum: The osCmax 2.5 builtin Ajax Attributes Manager is already prepared for this feature. The Up/Down buttons appear but don't have any function...

The code is there and should work once the Attributes Sort Code is installed.

It actually looks like an easy install ... I have added it to the bugtracker: 0000707: Attribute Sorting - osCmax Bug Tracking System

I have put this down as v2.6 but may take a quick look as it is a useful addition and most of the hard work is done (AJAX Attribute Manager bit).

Thanks, pgmarshall! I really appreciate your work Just found this contribution, which claims to have a built-in sort-order functionality. Maybe it is helpful...

This is a rewrite for AJAX attribute manager for 2.3.1
It's based on AJAX attribute manager v2.8.6 but added a sort option.
Basicly it sorts the way you sort your values in admin.

Unfortunately - that is for osCommerce v2.3.1 ... but don't worry the sort orders are already in v2.5 ...

    r1164 - oscmax2 - Project Hosting on Google Code

This allows the attributes in an option to be sorted using the AJAX sort order ... there is also code in there to sort the actual options themselves but it does not appear to work at present ... so if you just want to sort the attributes (most people do) then it is all done for you.

Well, it's indeed the option value sort order what I need. I'll try to use phpMyAdmin as the suggested workaround.
