SKU for multiple attributes

Hello,

I tried ressurecting an old thread: question about attributes

However, it's closed.

Wanted to get blackhawk's and others attention to this:

there is no way to distinguish model numbers as far as giving them unqiue numbers, per attribute. for example, if i know my main product for the page has a model number of 12345 and I know that one if its attributes comes in red, there is no way to assign that particular attribute a model number of 12345-red002

Even if we could do that, there is no way to see it in easy populate OR its current stock level. It's kind of a challenge for me at the moment. but thank you for the input. much appreciated!

I am trying to get an idea of what it is that the OP wanted to accomplish as I wish to solve this problem.

Any help is much appreciated.

You need to slow down and walk before you run.
Attribute SKU has been a long-running debate (years).
Michael recently introduced it in 2.0.25 SVN - Hurrah!
There are currently issues with it in 2.1

Look in the Developers section above and browse Updates, you'll see it mentioned. I haven't found time to incorporate it specifically in EP (and have been given little incentive to do so) but it shouldn't be too difficult adding in the additional field.

Anyhow, thanks for the feedback. The reason I brought up this issue is because adding sku for each attribute is a very simple thing to do yet until now no one really implemented it.

Furthermore, I have figured out a way to even have an sku for each multiple attribute (Size: Small in Color: Red). And it looks like a fairly easy implementation.

That's why I wanted to get blackhawk's feedback on it. I understand that EP is a seperate issue however, before I get to the EP, I wanted to get his/her opinion and feedback and this.

Also, you mentioned that there are issues in 2.1. Can you please be more specific?
