    Default uploading customers

    Hi,

I hope I'm posting this in the proper place. I did a search and didn't find anything.

I have a database of customers prior to installing oscmax. I'd like to import them. I went to my host control panel, then to mySQL and tried to upload a csv file, but I couldn't.

    Any help much appreciated!

You will need to match up the column headers to your data - where did the original source come from?

Did you export from another database?

Edit: Ps. No you didn't post in the right place unless you are using osCmax v1.7 (which I suspecty you are not!) But don't worry we will still try and help you out ...
    Regards,

    Thanks for the response.

The file I am trying to upload is just a list of email addresses in an Excel file. I want to add them to the customers to be able to send emails from oscmax to everyone.

I put them in a text file seperated by commas, but that didn't work. I then took all of the headers from the current osmax database and pasted it into my Excel file and moved the email addresses under the correct heading, and that didn't work. I then saved the Excel as a csv file and that didn't work.

    Any help greatly appreciated!

I am going to assume that you are using phpMyAdmin (or similar) to get access directly to your store database.

The easiest way (I find) to manipulate data directly in your database is to Export one row of your datasource - load this into excel - add your extra data in the same format - then import it back into your dbase.

Or you can write a quick bit of SQL to do it (depends on which you are better at!)

    Hi,

Evidently I am not better at neither
I pasted the headers in an excel and under the "email address" column, I pasted the new addresses and tried to upload it. Nope.

You have answered all of my posts and the advice was invaluable.
