    Default New Account Mail Message

    Is there any way to suppress the "Welcome" e-mail message that automatically gets generated on new accounts that are set up from the Admin panel? I still want the on-line customers to get the Welcome email, so I don't want to turn off the feature completely, but when I manually add a new customer I don't want them to get the Welcome message because I am using the manually added account simply to process a direct order through the payment system.

    Thanks...

    Just an observation...
    Would this email not encourage the new customer to return to the site? A definite plus.
    You would need to look at customising admin/create_account_process.php

    Line 427
    Code:
    //    tep_mail($name, $email_address, EMAIL_SUBJECT, nl2br($email_text), STORE_OWNER, STORE_OWNER_EMAIL_ADDRESS);
    Though I advise against this...

    Thanks, redexbuilder - but I really don't want to incapacitate sending new customer welcome e-mails when the customer creates the account on line, I just want the option to not send out an email when I am manually creating a new customer from the admin console.

    Probably easier to just temporatily change the email setting to "no emails" while creating the customer account and changing it back when I'm done... it doesn't happen all that often, anyway.

    Thanks for your help with this...

    Question Re: New Account Mail Message

    Hence editing the Admin one.
    Have you actually tried it out from both an Admin and an end user perspective?

    Thanks, ridexbuilder - I think I have a better understanding of this now. I have looked at both perspectives and I think we have moved beyond the "is it possible" question to the "I wish it could..."

    What would be ideal is a check-box option in the admin\create_account_process that sends or ignores the welcome e-mail in those few cases where an email is not wanted. I hesitate making any more php code changes, however, since each code change complicates any pending upgrades.

    But thanks so much for your help and responses - you have pushed me in the right direction.
