    Default oscmax whole/retail features..help

Hello I am new to the forum and after reading thru the reviews at:
Magento, Oscommerce, ZenCart, X-Cart, CRE Loaded, OSC Max, Virtuemart, Comparison & Review of Shopping Carts

I decided to go ahead and look at oscmax but was wondering a couple of things. First, a friend of mine wants me to put a store that she can sell both wholesale and retail. For the wholesale side she wants them to have to login and with a username/password to see their pricing which could possibly be different for each wholesale client. For the wholesale side the pricing would be the same across the board from the base if needed (to keep it easier) just a percent difference (i.e. customer A: 10% lower than retail..customer B 12% lower than retail, customer C: 11%). This is not mandatory or set in stone :> :> My question is is there a doc. or something for setting up retail/wholesale? I have used oscommerce before but it has been about 3 years and it wasn't the best back then. Thanks!!

Pretty simple just use customer groups in admin set up retail and wholesale group you can populate the pricing on each group using easypopulate. You can use any spreadsheet program to change prices by 12% or whatever and save as text and tabs and upload via easypopulte.

actually I went a slightly different route.

I modified an easypop to accept two fields in the form... V_MSRP and V_COST

Then in easy pop I apply a set of rules to the fields.
    1) rprice = V_MSRP * .92
    2) wprice = V_COST * 1.15
    3) if wprice > rprice then wprice = rprice

In this way the retail price is set at 92% of the MSRP and the wholesale price is set at 15% above cost unless that 15% is more than the retail price, then it is set to the retail price.

Since the "policy" of the store is that everything is sold at a minimum 8% below MSRP This ensure that the policy is met. The other piece supports the policy that nothing in the wholesale will be above 15% over the cost. Easypop does the math and makes the decisions so a human doesn't have to.

Now, using this method you can actually have easypop set whatever pricing you want, and while this has only on "rule" in it (the if statement) it is fairly simple. But this could easily set a minimum margin value and then see if the discounted price was below that value and then if so adjust the sale price to that value (as long as that value was not greater than the MSRP), etc.

    Let easypop do the work.
    so endith the lesson

Nice idea: I have a couple wholesale groups and a retail group. I may look into that when the markets settle. My problem is the product is a commodity where prices seem to change daily and by different percentages. I will be glad when the few in the world stop manipulating the commodities markets and buying contracts that don't even exist.
