Default More Features or Code Freeze with bug fixes & clean up?

As a lot of you will have noticed (hopefully), there has been a flurry of activity with oscMax, of late. Excellent!

'Max now has quite a range of facilities open to it... and growing. Version 2.1 seems to be advancing well, soon to be released to the 'general population', possibly.

Large inroads have been made to update the documentation, to the benefit of all. (PGM)
Work is being done towards PCI compliance. (JohnW?)

Would now be a good time to take stock? Tidy up all the loose ends (redundant code), re-organise the top level (catalog) directory files, sort bugs and generally provide a more stable and 'clean' platform before moving forward. 'Max (currently) remains in the oscommerce 2.x code set, as opposed to 3.x, so why not make the effort to improve this fork - there's no concern over deviating from the current oscommerce offering.

    Ridex,

I think if we could get some decent tidying up done in v2.1 then this would really help the project. Ie. Add the latest set of modules to the next release and have a bit of a clear up. Perhaps the best thing to do is to start a thread where people can post the redundant bits of code? (Or is the bugtracker the best place for this?)

My main area of concentration at the moment is in improving usability for the user (both customer and admin).

Currently, working on integrating the wiki help documents into the admin section - But I do agree that some of the redundant admin sections should be removed since this does cause quite a lot of confusion.

A bit of an overhaul of the admin panel would also be nice. Most of the competition have binned the original osCommerce admin/index.php page as it adds no real value to anyone!

I have installed a dashboard on my admin panel ... which is still very much work in progress.

I was also thinking of all the existing added in contribs. These could do with being 'officially freshened up", IMO.
