"out of stock" message not showing up in carts

Hi all,

When a customer orders from my store, and they order more than the available quantity, the software will not let them check out but will not show them which item is out of stock. I'm pretty sure that I haven't messed around in any code that would affect this.

*did I get rid of the admin login part??*

This post is very strange!
It's prompting to login to the admin directory of your site.

I suggest you ask Michael_S to remove the post (JPF appears to have gone AWOL for a while).

that is weird - I don't see that at all on my end. any ideas on the "out of stock" not showing up?

It should show up on the product page. You need to enable the stock tracking and notification,

Admin >> Configuration >> Stock

That 'quirk' appears to have gone now (I did show the name of your admin folder) - phew.

My settings should be correct =

check stock level - True
Subtract Stock - True
Allow Checkout - False
Mark Product out of Stock - Out of Stock
Stock reorder level - 0

This is what the settings have been set at - and I'm still having the problem of it not marking which products in a shopping cart are out of stock.

Post a link to a product that is out of stock on your site.

it's not the products showing up as a product listing when they are out of stock - that works. What doesn't work is if you order say 3 of a product that only has 2 in stock, then it won't let the person check out (which is correct) but doesn't mark the out of stock product in the shopping cart, so the person is confused as to why their order isn't going through. You can try it by deliberately over ordering something at www.unplannedpeacock.com

Sounds like you have something messed up, as it works on a standard osCMax install. See the screenshot attached.

The image is of a product with 3 in stock, and I added 4 to the cart. It shows Out Of Stock in big red letters.

so basically my only option is to reinstall it? That will wipe out all my settings, won't it? Is it possible to do a targeted installation of just the parts that affect this issue?
