    Question Product Attributes...something missing.???

In the Manual for product options it specifies 5 things.
    1. Option Name 2. Comments 3. Option Type 4. Size 5. Sort Order.

My question is where do I find these to manipulate or utilize them? Specifically the Option Type for my cart.

    Thank you.

And if using a checkbox option instead of a dropdown menu for the cart is not possible....then why the F#&@ is it even listed in the Users Manual???

I think that is for the older 1.5/1.7 versions. Was removed in 2.0

Thanks for letting me know...do you know of any add-ons or contributions that will allow me to use textfields or more importantly checkboxes? They are a must for my site.

    Thank you.

    ConsGifts,

It may be worth telling us what your end goal is ... there are loads of mods out there to do with disaplying the options to the end users.

Some build all the options into a grid and allow the user to pick, others allow multiple selection from multiple dropdown, others do tables of different attributes, etc.

Give us a worked example of what you are trying to achieve ...

ie. list an example set of attributes for a product and then explain what you expect the end user to be able to do from the product_info page.

    Regards,
    pgmarshall

One of my sites is wholesale so it'd be much simpler if they could see one page and then they could select the various order sizes/colours I have to mix and match into one charge. So it adds up the total as they check the boxes.

The other site is retail and I'm looking for the same basic idea only they would customize the package with certain limits. ie: Choose only 1 of the 3 items here and up to 4 of the following items to customize your package. Again adding up the items as they chose.

    Hi All,

It would appear that OTF integrated with QTPro for osCmax would be beneficial to most users. I don't need it for my site but would be happy to help build/test/pay for coding time?

jpf - I have seen you post about coding this contribution into oscmax before ... do you have any idea of how much time it would take you ... how much would it cost the osCmax community?

I think there could be a few users of oscmax would be willing to donate towards this project ... perhaps a Paypal Donate button? I would not want to take away from osCmax donate though.

    ConsGifts - have a look at ...
    Grid Attributes
    Products Attributes Checkbox
    Option Types v2

Although, I suspect that they will also conflict with QTPro!

Thumbs up Re: Product Attributes...something missing.???

If the first step of the donation was small enough, even I'd cough up. I won't directly benefit from it but will it help me convince clients to stick with 'Max, as their product lines expand.

It would allow 'Max to compete on a more level playing field, compared to other oscommerce derivatives, that support better attribute handling.

Anyone that sells customised items will stand to benefit.

Flexible attributes make pages more readily Human Computer Interaction compliant
A drop-down box is counter productive where only two options exist, for example.

So I guess that's a "Count Me In", then.

That is why I don't have a personal "Donate" button as I know Mike bears the brunt of the direct cost of hosting, domain registations and most of all - his time.... The fact that he has gotten paid business from it, atleaset to a certain level.

As I have said - I have most of the code chopped up and commented and is some what cleaner.

It stalled due to the person backed out and left me hanging. It not a simple just replace theses "X" lines with this "code" type of situation that I help people on the site with. It is much more involved.

No one seams serous about it - so it went on the back burner. All the time it is brought back in the light in the forum - I look at it again - but it take a few hours to figure it all out where I was - by then intrupted with family time or my regular job or I have to do paid stuff...LIFE happens...then gets put on the burner again.

No one seams to have stepped up and said - Hey this I need and sure I will spend (insert random amount here) bucks to help.

Get some serous people together to chip 5 or 10 each or atlease one serous person....it would help.
