Offline product updating

I remember reading somewhere about a program you could use to edit your cart offline... I don't mean easy populate it was a paid program... Anyone able to help me out and give me some feedback as to whether it's any good?

I just feel that the oscommerce/oscmax product input/editing system is completely rubbish but I don't really want to be editing spreadsheets.

I have not used it - but I note there is a trial ... I think Michael may know a fair bit about it ... perhaps he could comment!

xShop is a windows desktop application that directly connects to your database. So, it is not really an 'offline' app. It still requires an internet connection but it goes directly to the database, and there is no web browser needed.

I will get the free trial and make a writeup on it but I was hoping to get some feedback from previous users.

It is not mine (My brother's software company), but I worked closely with the developers with the initial feature set and help with their web site to answer questions. I use it every day in my work and it has some pretty nice features. The thing I really like is the speed. It handles large databases with much less problems than the web interface - don't have to worry about timeouts when using direct mysql connections instead of http/php.

I have customized my installation and added a lot of different description fields, product tabs, etc. Is xShop customizable at all?

No. xShop runs with a default osCMax install. The only way to see what works for you is to download and test it. It may in the future allow changing the data sets, but for now they are not changeable.
