Default Dynamic Mopics additional images to product pages

I am having trouble with the additional images showing up on the product page. I have uploaded them into the “images_big” and the “thumbs” files. I created a directory of “children” and a sub directory of “shirts_tops” to put them into. The image files are in “jpg” and are as the following: “lspolo1-2940blue.jpg” for the 1 I added on the product page, “lspolo1-2940orange_1.jpg” “lspolo1-2940purple_2.jpg” “lspolo1-2940teal_3.jpg” for the additional images. The _1, _2, & _3 are the images I uploaded into the subdirectories in the 2 files listed above.

Am I doing something wrong or am I missing something, because they are not showing up on the product page? Or do they have to be EXACT for the program to recognize them?

I understand how this may seem very simple to most, but I am just starting out and would appreciate any help in resolving this. I am not trying to create any big to do site, just a simple 1 showing the item, different styles and a checkout.

Default Re: additional images to product pages

See this example, and simply copy the naming format. Notice how all the image names are the same except for the number.
The osCMax Store : osCMax User Manual - eBook [oscmax-manua] - $29.95

Notice that the main image is named:
oscmax-manual-med.png

This forces all the additional images to also be named the same, with the addition of the numbering pattern. Note the names of the images are the following:
oscmax-manual-med_1.png
oscmax-manual-med_2.png
oscmax-manual-med_3.png

The image names cannot have ANY differences besides the number, or they are not associated with the main image, and will NOT display for the product.

The image names MUST be exactly the same except for the number extension, per the documentation:

22 Dynamic Mopics - osCMax - osCommerce Maximized

Next, your images are not showing because they do not have the same name as your main image. If you want them to show they must all be named as follows:

Main image : lspolo1-2940blue.jpg

All additional images must be named:
lspolo1-2940blue_1.jpg
lspolo1-2940blue_2.jpg
lspolo1-2940blue_3.jpg
lspolo1-2940blue_4.jpg

You cannot change the name of the additional image to:
lspolo1-2940orange_1.jpg

Notice that lspolo1-2940orange is a different file name than lspolo1-2940blue

It does not match the main image name and will not be associated with that product.

Default Re: Dynamic Mopics additional images to product pages

I am really at a loss right now. I have went in and changed all of the files. Uploaded them into the "image_big" and "thumbs" directories, didn’t work.

I originally created a directory in each 1 as “children” and then in that directory, I created “shirts_tops” because in my store I will have a “children” and in the childrens I will have sub categories like: Shirts & Tops, Dresses, Pants and so forth.

I have tried doing it both ways: uploading just into the folders and then checking my product page – no additional images appeared, then deleting the files and making the directories and then uploading into those directories, still no luck with the images showing up.

Could I have a setting not set right somewhere or something?

I do have the manual, and I do not understand what I am doing wrong. I have been trying to figure these additional images now for over a week, I know it may be the simplest thing, but I am not seeing or understanding what is wrong or why I am having so much trouble with this.

lspolo1-2940.jpg – is in the main product page

lspolo1-2940_1.jpg

lspolo1-2940_2.jpg
lspolo1-2940_3.jpg

I uploaded via Filezilla into the “image_big” and the “thumbs” folders in the “image” directory. Tried it this way – the images still did not show up on the product page. Can all of the images be put here, even if the store has categories and sub categories or will they have to be put in categories and subcategories like they will be in the store?

Deleted those images and made a “children” directory in each of those folders, then made a subdirectory “shirts_tops” in the “children” directories. So the path was “images/thumbs/children/shirts_tops” I uploaded via Filezilla and tried it this way – the images still did not show up on the product page.

I am all for doing this in the least or simplest steps.

Have any more thoughts on this? Anyone?

This really takes minutes to set up and is so simple. You are gonna kick yourself once it clicks and you get it. It really is very easy.

What are your dynamic mopics settings in the admin panel?

Lightbulb Re: Dynamic Mopics additional images to product pages

OP is trying to over complicate things.

Forget about creating additional subdirectories - that's a non-starter.
Store ALL full-size images in images_big, ALL thumbnails in thumbs.
Re-instate the thumbs/ directive in the Admin console.

name your images (without reference to colour options)
lspolo1-2940.jpg - the first image to be used
lspolo1-2940_1.jpg - for the various colour options...
lspolo1-2940_2.jpg
lspolo1-2940_3.jpg - and so on.
for both sizes of images, storing full-size images in images_big and thumbnails in thumbs.

Better still, read my post on the subject

Ok, did that and now the “lspolo1-2940_1.jpg” shows up several hundred times in the bluish additional images spot. And again right under the bluish spot. “lspolo1-2940_2.jpg” & “lspolo1-2940_3.jpg “ doesn’t show up even once. I have double and triple checked the images files and they are exact. I have even gone in an added a fresh product and it does the same thing on that page.

Any ideas on what is happening to me now?

I can't tell from your posts, but it appears that maybe you do not all the files uploaded correctly. To my understanding, you need to have all of the same image files uploaded to each directory that you are using. For instance, the files:

lspolo1-2940.jpg
lspolo1-2940_1.jpg
lspolo1-2940_2.jpg
lspolo1-2940_3.jpg

would need to appear in each of the following directories:

/images/
/images/images_big/
/images/thumbs/

When uploading an image through the admin panel, it is uploaded to the /images/ directory. All other files would then need to be uploaded to the proper directories.

I don't use different directories. I use the /images/ directory for all images, so the same images are used for thumbs & big images. This simplifies things a lot & I don't have to worry about creating a lot of different size images. If you do this, you just need to make sure that your images are optimized, so it does not take a long time to load. To store all images in the /images/ directory, you need to delete the Big Images & Thumbnail directories in the Dynamic Mopics admin, so that it looks like this:

Big Image Types jpg,gif,jpeg,tiff,png,bmp
Thumbnail Image Types jpg,gif,jpeg,tiff,png,bmp
Big Images Directory
Thumbnail Images Directory
Main Thumbnail In "Thumbnail Images Directory" false
Extra Image Pattern imagebase_{1}

Thumbs down Re: Dynamic Mopics additional images to product pages

Which totally wipes out the use of Mopics, with its' benefits.
