I currently have a website and would like to know if anyone has found ways to do drop shipping with this software.
I am working with some large suppliers who offer two drop shipping types.

1. They offer API's where they can have my site communicate with theirs to provide live quantity information so I won't have someone order an out of stock item. It will also in some cases feed the actual product descriptions and also even accept an order from our website to be sent directly to them for shipment. Would I be able to have a feature like this added?

2. The second that many offer is simply if I have a drop ship order I go into their system to place an order just like I'd have it shipped to me. The only difference is when ordering it I enter my customer's address instead of mine. I know this would be easier to implement but am looking for any ideas on how best to do this option.

I know I'd manually place the order with my supplier which I'm fine with. I would then get a tracking number that I would email to the customer.
The concern I have would be with shipping type and availability.

-For example in many cases the shipping costs that I'd collect on the website would be close enough that a few times I may lose money but many times make money since they often have better shipping rates. The problem is for example I offer both USPS and UPS on my items and many suppliers may offer FedEx and not USPS and I don't know how I could have drop ship items note that.

-As for availability. I know it would be hard to have live feeds but am wondering if someone has heard of an option such as maybe placing a 'Check availability' button on a product page that if someone would press it they'd enter their email, I'd be emailed with the product name and their email address, and then check with my supplier and notify them if it's available. I know this could lead to many emails to keep up with and as well a product could sell out after I contact a customer. I just can't think of another way to do it and am open to any ideas.

Are there any modules that can be added that would do this?
