Go figure.
Thanks for your reply minuteman, I still have not been able to figure this out, funny thing is that I also have been thinking of maybe installing my old DB or finding a different Pic MOD to install and seeing if this would fix my problem. I really would hate to do that but I may not have any choice, if I can't get this figure out.

Hi Michael you are saying that if I don't have the above options in my admin panel under Dynamic Mopics, then I am not running osCMax 2.0 RC3, this has me a little confuse because in my admin all I have is the following title;

Big Images Directory
Thumbnail Images Directory
Main Thumbnail In Thumb Directory
Extra Images Pattern
Thumbnail Image Type
Big Image Type

I am missing;

Number of Pics per Row
Mo Pics Extension
Main Big Pic Extension

what has me confuse is that this holds true even for the admin on my local machine which is running a stock copy of osCMax 2.0 RC3 with no mod's at all just the way it comes out of the box. Is this correct or should i have the missing titles above? Also I notice that if I input the value images_big/ in the Big Images Directory I lose the enlarge image link so I have to leave the Big Images Directory blank. Any idea why this may be happening?

These are the only options in RC3:

Big Images Directory
Thumbnail Images Directory
Main Thumbnail In Thumb Directory
Extra Images Pattern
Thumbnail Image Type
Big Image Type

These are no longer in the current version of mopics so they don't need to be set:

Number of Pics per Row
Mo Pics Extension
Main Big Pic Extension

My reply was to mithereal, who said none of the options were available. That is why I said he wasn't running RC3, as he said none of the options were there.

That is how it is supposed to work. Read the docs, specifically:
Quote:
  • Big Images Directory :: The directory inside catalog/images where your big images are stored. If you want the default osCommerce behavior to work, simply empty this field and leave it blank.
If you set it, and there are no properly named big images in the big images directory, mopics thinks there are no big images, and disables the link.

So I think your problem is that you are not properly naming your big images.

Hi Michael thanks for your reply, I guess I just didn't understand the reply to mithereal.

I thought that all I had to do was to name the larger images the same as the smaller images and just put it in the images_big folder in order for mopic to find the larger pic. Is this not correct? Or do I need to add an extention to the large pic as follows:

Small pic ....... picture.jpg
Larger pic ....... picture_big.jpg

It is pretty simple:

1. Create product and add image via the admin panel.
2. If you have set mopics to use images_big, then upload the big image to that dir. It should have the same name is the image thumbnail that you uploaded via the admin panel.

That is all there is to it. Here is a demo of that exact procedure:
http://php5.oscmax.com/catalog/chule-p-4.html

That image on that page is a thumbnail I created that is 20kb (320x320 roughly). It is named DSCN2729.JPG and is uploaded to the /images directory.

When you click it, it loads the same named image in the images/images_big/ directory that is about 120k and much larger (800x800 roughly).

Hi Michael, I try the link you gave me above and it is not working. When I click on it this is what I get;

{headertags} {stylesheet} {javascript} {common}
Example of internal HTML link with {BTSsid} attached (only when needed).

{cataloglogo} {myaccountlogo} {cartlogo} {checkoutlogo}
{breadcrumbs} {myaccount} | {cartcontents} | {checkout}
{categorybox}
{manufacturerbox}
{whatsnewbox}
{searchbox}
{informationbox} {content} {cartbox}
{maninfobox}
{orderhistorybox}
{bestsellersbox}
{specialfriendbox}
{reviewsbox}
{languagebox}
{currenciesbox}
{banner}
{date} {numrequests}

I do have another question which I hope you can answer for me. Inside of my images/ folder I have mutiple sub-folders, one for eash catagory, where I have install the pic's for each catagory, I set it up this way for easy maintance access. My question is that if I have my pic's in different sub-folder with in the images folder, shouldn't mopic still look in the images_big folder for the larger pic? Or should I also add sub-folders in the image_big folder?

Hi Micheal,

I may have found a possible bug in the admin panel. I was trying to move one of my pic out of the sub-folder directly into the images folder to see if mopic would find the larger images in the images_big folder. What I did was I went to the product in the admin that I wanted to test and I click on the browse button to add the pic but the choose file box that opens up is for files on my local machine and not for the images folders on my website on aabox. So I than try to just input the path in the Products Image: box but than when I click on the preview button nothing happens, the button does not work. But when I delete the info in the Products Image: box than the preview button works just fine but of cause nothing got uploaded. Any idea what may be causing these problem? Thanks bro.

I don't know. I have never done that before. I would assume that you cannot put the images in a subfolder at all. You may want to give it a try though.

What you describe is not a bug. That is how it works. You can only browse and upload images from your local machine in the admin panel. That is how it has always been. You cannot add images already on the webserver from the admin panel, and have never been able to do so.

I try adding the test pic to a sub-folder in the images_big folder and that didn't work.

When I was running the oscMax 1.7 that how I used to add the large images. I just went to my admin clicked on the browse button and a box would open up that show all the images in my webserver images and images_big folders and I was able to add the images that way. I just thought that I could still do it that way.
