HUGE PROBLEM my cart is selling negative quantity

Not sure whats going on, but my store is selling product I dont have!!! I enter inventory quantities on everything, only to find now people are ordering the same items that are out of stock, and now i am seeing negative inventory quantities.. I thought if it hit 0 for inventory it automatically removed it from the store.

figured it out, by default the system allows checkout on even insufficient stock stupid stupid pain in the but idea

In Admin/Configuration/Stock screen, do you have

Check Stock Level.......True
Subtrack Stock...........True
Allow Checkout...........False

Checking these parameters would be my first step.

The negative number can be edited to any quantity you want it to be when you edit categories/products.

Take a relaxing breath and get back to the real problem -- getting the product people obviously want into their hands with the money they are sending you.

Unless your item has gone unavailable or has a long lead time, selling what you haven't had to stock yet can be a great situation -- money in hand, less risk, less obsolescence.
