Default Newbie needs help with column widths

Okay, I've researched as best I could and I'm totally lost. Hopefully someone out there can help me out.

osCMax v2.0 : Welcome to AABox.com's osCMax v2.0 - change this in /english/index.php is my site. If you look at the columns on the left and right, the columns desperately need to be re-aligned.

On the left hand column, you can see where the blue rows seperating the individual infoboxes narrow towards the end of them.

On the right hand column, the text from the center column (item description) goes into the right hand column making it almost impossible to read.

I know that there is someone out there than can point me in the right direction, right?

Thanks in advance

And being a "newbie", I just noticed I needed to change the index file as well. =) See, I told you I'm new at this!

You'll find layout modification here BTS Manual For now look in you main_page.tbl.php of your template and you can set the center width in the table after this line <!-- TS table added to restrict content in center box -->

Since you're new at this I highly recommend that you read through the documentation throughly and it will save you a lot of time and frustration in the long run. Most of the things you'll run into are covered in there. Go to the Documentation link at the top of the site and click every link you can find off of it.

Thanks for the pointer John. I do appreciate it. I've gone thru and looked at the BTS Manual and the link for the "columns" doesn't show me anything. Actually, none of the links from the "page layout and content" work.

I am still battling to get the left column toned down a bit....

You're not a problem child but this can be pretty overwhelming and time consuming although it's wayyyyyyyy better than when I started in 2002. OSCMax really makes this a lot easier, but it can still be a challenge. Going through the docs here and on the main forum will help you a lot and more importantly save a lot of time. Keep in mind that the main forum is geared towards stock OSC and many things are a little different. Once you understand how the OSC/Max layout works you'll be able to find things more easily.

I thought the BTS section was completed. Anyway, BTS can be a little confusing at first, but once you get the concept it's not bad. Basically, most of your layout is in the main_page.tbl.php and then look to fallback/content/ for individual files.

You can make your own images to use for the layout pretty easily and then change the color and width to suit your needs. My site is pretty simple but you can see what I did Dried Flowers R Us :. The main OSC site has some pretty good info especially for on the stylesheet. osCommerce: Documentation

A few suggestions are:
Firefox browser - look through the addons and there are some great tools for development. The Firebug addon lets you manipulate your site code to see how things are affected. Very cool add on.

Dreamweaver - Helps in more ways than I can mention

Photoshop or the like - Make your own layout and buttons.

Beyond Compare - great for comparing files and folders

You can buy one of the templates and probably be way ahead of the game with less frustration. Not much money for a ton of time saved.
