Okay, I loath this report. It's totally useless, expecially when you have been running a store for a while. So, I have been rethinking how to make this useful (remember, I wrote the recover cart sales initially, so I am a big believer that people that run stores really know what they want, since I run one).
Now the way I see it, this can be a useful report. But the way it works now it provides no useful information that I can get from it. So, I was looking in the database and decided to take a stab at making it useful, but before I start to code the sucker, I want to make sure that I have thought of everything.
So, here are the changes. It will still list the columns it has but...
1) add new columns.
A) Total number of orders
B) Average order size
C) Average items per order (possible addition in v2) - may add some intense processing time as it will require a different table to be open and opperated on
D) Date of Last Order
2) Make each column sortable
3) Set a date range (ie: last 120 days)
4) Number of items per page
I would like to also be able to add some "action" to this. Maybe the ability to create a "customer list" from this by select box and be able to "import" that list to the coupon system so I can send my best customers as I define them a coupon. Or be able to use a drilldown that will show the most common items purchased between the selected customers to see if they are selecting featured or special items, etc.
Like I said, the current report really doesn't tell me what is happening in the store, but I think that basic idea of knowing who your "best customers are" is important.
So, here you have a chace to add your $0.02 before I start to hack at the report and add some meat to its bones.
