Default Articles name length

Hello,
I would like to make the articles name longer (in Article Manager contribution).
I tried to change table topics_name to varchar 128, but that made no difference and my topics are still too short.
Help appreciated,
Thanks.

How large are you wanting and what is currently showing? I had no problem going to 255 char and showing 100% of it.

See demo site at:

I need the name to contain html code, so i can link the name to an external file, eg:
Quote:
<a href="http://mysite.com/myinformationarticle.pdf">My Information Article March 2007</a>
Even if topics_name is varchar(255), the name of the article is cropped.
Thanks for your help jpf.

URL will not work as the "article name" become a URL it self. YOU CAN however in the HTML editor put in the body a url to a PDF file.

What you want is NOT to use the build in system if your wanting to use a PDF for your article postings (I think that is).

Url in the name does work, and it opens a pdf file. this works fine and is exactly what i need.
The problem is that with the html tags in the article name becomes too long and it crops the link. how can i make the article name have more characters?
thanks for helping me out with this issue.

See link above. I have no problem putting up to 255 characters as the name. I think you can't make it more than 255 char.

There is no riddle - you can put up to 255 character if you change MYSQL- and you see all 255 characters. See DEMO SITE link as above where all 255 are display.

If there still is a problem please give MORE details as I can SEE ALL 255 char. Maybe supply a link to your error/problem site? OR FEEL FREE to replicate the problem in the DEMO SITE as mentioned above which is set to 255 chars.

Is there a setting in the page code that also needs to be changed after you change the mySql table? ie LIMIT 25 must be changed to LIMIT 255 or whatever you want somewhere in the .php code?
