I see your site is in Google. The problems is - is your products unique or does it get buried under 1000 other similar items from 10000 other websites?

Is your product descriptions contains the needed phases and descriptions. Are they unique to your website or the same description as that may be on 1000s of other sites?

Consider purchasing ADWORDS or other forms of advertising.

Default Re: SEO Help

when I looked at it my first thought was, gee, an oscommerce store...

So then I wnt looking for what made you special. And I found nothing.

Google will be more than happy to run your store and index you, but that doesn't cut it any more. What you want are links to your site, and they should be links from sites that have some relation to you.

1) create content
2) get that content linked to
3) go back and do 1 and 2 some more.

What do I mean by create content? I mean that you need more than what you seel, you need content that people are looking for. In your case, I would put together a series of articles dealing with what you want to draw people to the site.

1) Why don't some movies get released?
2) Why do studios kill movies after release?
3) The wonderful world of Disney and thier new releases
4) Where do old movies go to die?
5) Why is my movie not out in DVD?
6) Why WS is a better option.
7) VHS? Whatsa VHS? BETAMAX?
Why ripping doesn't work the way you thought.
9) How can I get a stidio to release my movie
10) The value of a good estate sale.

Once you have the articles written, make sure that you include content in the articles that link to actual content in the store and create the links For instance, when talking about Disney link to some of the Disney products you carry that have been pulled by Disney.

In addition, make sure that a link to the content is at the bottom of the page and a note that says that anyone can use the link in their sites to link to your content, but that the content may not be copied.

Now you have some content. The next part is making sure that the content gets seen. Look for formus and other on-line locations that discuss movies and start posting links to your content in the appropriate threads.

Don't spam them, make sure that the links are there between you conent link and the questions asked or the discussion topic. Create a FAQ page with answers to many of the common questions you find, and add that to your sites content and provide a link to that FAQ when appropriate in other forums.

So, we have about a weeks worth of time creating 40 content pieces. Then we have another two weeks of working the forums and other areas (like usenet newsgroups / google groups) to get links to your content out there.

Now you are different. You provide tons of free data and people will start linking to you. You have created a place for people to go to get answers, and your pageranking will increase. These linkbacks will also effect how your store does in it's pageranking. Thus, you will slowly start to see your site rise in google as more people seek to make you a reference point.

Find a way to get a few links into IMDB and your site should soar.

Now, SEO people won't tell you any of this, because they don't sell this. But that is how you can start to really effect your position.
