osCMax email questions

Hi -

I'm new to osCMax. I'ved used oscommerce 2.2 previously to build about 1/2 dozen sites for clients. So far I'm liking osCMax. It has most of the functionality of the previous sites I've built, but without having the headaches of installing a lot of contributions.

I've installed osCMax and started poking around a bit and I have a couple questions.

1. Is it possible to send an email to select group of customers - Send only to Retail or only to Wholesale customers or some other group I create?

2. If I choose to send an email to "All Customers" will that email go to BOTH people who have created an account and to those who have made a purchase without creating an account?

Hi and welcome back.

1. You would need to modify the mailer page to include customer groups, this feature is not available by default.

2. The PWA accounts should not show up in the list. I am not in front of a test shop to verify this, but you can verify it easily. Create an order via PWA and then see if the customer shows in the mailer list.

1. Are you referring to the /catalog/admin/mail.php page for the necessary modifications?

2. No the PWA accounts do not show up on the mailer list.

3. I found the Newsletter manager. I see that people can select the option to receive newsletters when they create an account. Out of the box does osCMax have the ability for people to sign up for the newsletter without the placing order? Do I need to install a contribution for this function?

1. Yes, that is the file I am referring to.
2. As I thought. PWA is excluded since no account is created for them.
3. There is not this feature out of the box but there is a mod that can be installed that does this:
