    Smile Good Attribute Add-on

    I came across a decent add-on for osMax. osCommerce: AJAX Attribute Manager. This is an AJAX based Attribute configurator. It allows you to add or change a product, and in the same screen (the regular one you already use), add attributes for the product. The attributes can be added removed, or even deleted from your system from this screen. It also has a template feature so you can load batches of attributes to products over and over.

    I strongly suggest this easy to add option. To install it, follow the instructions exactly as shown in the Install file (line numbers are not good, but the text search is okay for finding line locations)- no special configuration is required.

    Jose, I just tried adding this mod, and I can't get it to show up! I'm not getting any errors, either...

    As per the install instructions did you run the SQL Query?

    INSERT INTO `admin_files` VALUES ('', 'attributeManager.php', 0, 3, '1');

    Wow, thanks for the reply, jpf!
    I had as a matter of fact! - but I still don't see it...

    This is the very first mod I've done to this copy of osCMax.

    For me, the mod came up right away, all I did was copy the files to the stated locations, make the changes as specified to the categories.php, and then run the sql.

    It appears in the product defining page, which you reach from the Categories/Products page. The mod loads just below the Products Price (Net) box, and just above the Products Price (Gross) box.

    I did not program this mod, but I love it. I can now add large amounts of attributes directly to the product- in the same time that ittakes to simply add the the element as an attribute. I do not need 2 steps- it is one step. The template feature is also great, because I could never get the EasyPopulate option to work with my site.

    By the way- please make a backup first!!!

    I tried to place it at the end of the page- under the image upload etc, and before the submit button. It didn't make sense to me to place it in the middle of the pricing fields!

    I just switched it to the specified spot- I can see a white strip where it should be, but nothing is there... I tried deleting the htacess file as someone suggested on the oscommerce support forum. No dice.

    waaaah! My very first mod is a failure!

    Dragonmom,
    I have seen some mods work well in Internet Explorer, and not in other browsers. This is one. (Another is the wysiwyg editor in osCmax).
    I suggest that if it interestes you to have a streamlined product setup (which we need for our complicated items on our sites), then it is worth starting from scratch and following the directions exactly as listed.

    yes, I tried that as well.
    In firefox's handy tools there is an error console;
    it says "error: goOnload is not defined"

    So I am having the same issue as Dragonmom.
    Though I am not getting any type of error outputs.
    So anyone have this problem and figure out the solution.
